Basically, that we have to do certain things, or act a certain way, or meet certain criteria for us to be acceptable to God.
Even the misunderstanding of Repentance says we have to demonstrate the proper degree of sorrowfulness.

Reminds me....
I saw an article (which I can't find now) where a pastor from another country stated that he wished America would stop sending our missionaries to other countries.
He and others with him, stated that our "version" of the Gospel and view on Christianity..... were too distorted.
...then he went on to say that other countries need to send America missionaries......to HELP US, and show us the Gospel.
Just his words. An eye opener though.
Ouch,....very ouch, right?
Although, I bet some of our bothers and sisters from other countries on CC, might be smiling at this post?
I don't expect a lot of "likes" on this one.

I dont believe "Christianity" is in good shape anywhere now 
except maybe in current revival areas like China, India... where people actually die for their faith, which probably doesnt allow them to argue much about the doctrine, nor they can afford to focus on being smart, they are rather in the momentum of building the church up. Luke 18:8
The self righteous tendency is global, it's the spirit of the age to seek to justify yourself. Jmo though...
