I was listening to a podcast by irvin baxter and he mentioned a strangely familiar word: interfaithism. When i was in highschool I was very pressured to believe all five religions. As I was listening when he said interfaithism I thought why not make a post about this. This isn't about the end times I just want your thoughts on interfaithism and how as Christians we are to respond to it.

Basically: "everything goes" like all religions are correct. He quoted someone who said that all religions worship the same god and all religions go to heaven.

My thought... interfaith means no faith.

Well, interestingly enough, many of the revered Early Church Fathers were Universalists in some form or another.

There is a way that seems right to men but the end thereof is destruction. Jesus said there is only one way. Jesus said I am the way the Truth and the Life no man cometh unto the Father but by me.

Sounds to me like these guys do not read the bible or do not believe the bible.

For the cause of Christ

Explain please! :-)
Many of them held views that it wasn't just black & white..... that we either hit Heaven, or we burned in Hell forever. Take some time, and read up on them. It'll take six months, or so, but it's worth it. If for no other reason than to be better informed about the men most of us say we follow (through denominational affiliation).

I thought you were a universalist yourself Willie, no?

Two cannot walk together unless they be agreed........2nd Corinthians 6...We then as workers together....Christ and Belial have nothing in common, Light and darkness have no basis of fellowship, true and false have no agreeable grounds to stand together much less work together.....

Hardly.

Some of these cats were way out there. One that you might want to start with might be Origen of Alexandria. This guy believed that even Ha Satan would eventually be redeemed.

Thanks for clarifying that. Yeah, some of them do have more far out beliefs within their own ranks I agree

Origen isn't considered a "church father" by anyone who actually has any sense and believes the bible.

Bible believers still consider him a heretic... just like they did when he was alive.
: )

Irvin Baxter says it doesn't matter. Jesus says:Jn 14:6
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
KJV

Jesus claims to be the ONLY Way. Either Jesus' claim to exclusivity is true; or Jesus is a liar. If Jesus is a Liar then Irvin is WRONG! If Jesus is telling the Truth then Irvin is WRONG.

Since Irvin Baxter can't be right on this, you had best believe Jesus.

the early church fathers, so called 'revered', are not to be trusted at all.

the writings of the ecf have helped spawn evil in the world's biggest heresy - the rcc, which claims that

satans revelations through the ecf supports the authority of the rcc.....

except they don't call it satans revelations --- even though much goes directly against God's Word.

like universalism.....

so, no, reading the ecf has not helped too many people at all, and has resulted in the loss of many

many lives and many many souls lost to the enemy both rcc and other.

God does not contradict Himself. He won't tell one group of people, I made you in my image (human form) and then reveal Himself to others as a multi armed elephant. He won't say to one group "I hate idols." And then let another group worship idols and be okay with it. He is not the God of confusion.

OK, oh Wise One. Google it. He's right there in the middle of them.

Is interfaith considered another gospel then? Because the apostles have something to say on that.

If there come any unto you
, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

As we said before, so say I now again,

If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed
.

Again, neither bid such a one God speed either

For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

It does show you can be a partaker of anothers sins, for example here...

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying,

Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

And no wonder, because just like at this time he says,

For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth.

But John and Paul say the same thing concerning them which preach another gospel (Paul moreso in his own demonstration). Where John might say dont even bid such a person God speed (who brings another gospel), Paul agrees in that by going one step further adding, "let him be accursed" (repeating this twice so theres no mistake).

What might seem a little strong handed in Paul is following the same course as shown in John its just not altogether silent.

So Paul is neither bidding any God speed but not altogether silent in how to let such be considered (which in this case, according to Paul as one accursed).

And accursed (whether of thing or man)
Is a thing devoted to God without hope of being redeemed , or a man accursed, devoted to the direst of woes or destruction
