Do we need to keep the sabbath? I dunno if I posted about this but I am still confused.

Matthew 5:19 says that if you ignore the least of these commands you get the least position in heaven. So can someone please explain this to me?

btw, what is the purpose of the Sabbath and why is it so hard to keep?
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made / the Sabbath day was ordained at creation it is for all times the mt Sinai tablets was a reminder of what was already set as commandments the commandments are for all times in creation

15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; (Compare)

16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Abraham kept the laws of his tribe, which he believed were of God, not the Law of Moses.

The Law given by Moses was in the form of a suzerainty treaty. The Deliverer was commanding their obedience on the grounds that He had delivered them (Exod 20.2). It thus referred to those whom He had delivered and their descendants, and those who later joined the covenant. It did not refer to the past. They were not 'brought back to His law'. It was a new revelation. (If we follow your argument then the New Testament is just a repetition of the Law of Moses, which is ridiculous). It is called progressive revelation
Sigh, I will say this again: God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. You are arguing in the flesh that is why it is not making sense...

Jesus is the Sabbath, there is no rest without the work of the cross. Period.

Obedience to what? That is what the Law tells us.
LOL people argue like the Holy Spirit was only revealed to us in the NT. He was there from day 1. Funny how the God not changing will convict people of one thing in the OT with His Spirit and then with something else in NT.

Thank you for your Biblically correct answers John!

Does the law forgive you if you do not meet the ten commandments, are you trying real hard.
lol
Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Heb 13:9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

Name one biblical character that kept the law other than Jesus?

Amen, and that is why we should try to keep God's law and by grace we will be saved. Good to see you have figured it out.
It angers people when they realize there is nothing they can do and must rely on the work of the cross. All I can do is place my faith in the cross. That is my only hope.

Keeping Sabbath is what you do and boast in it. The cross will not let you boast.
