I suggest we make a general forum for fine art: painting, photography, film, drawing etching, conceptual arts, sculpting... you name it. A place where people can be creative and show their own creations. Other art forms like music and poetry already have their own forums.

MultilingualMessenger made a photography thread in the misc. forum where you can post drawings and whatnot..

Yeah, but I think it deserves a proper forum like music and poetry have, not just a thread that dies after a few weeks
 
If a thread can't stay active, then why would an entire forum be put into place?

A forum is always there, accessible from the main page, so it get's more attention. A thread by default isn't and can easily fade into oblivion. I'm sure if there were only THREADS about say poetry and music, they wouldn't be nearly as active. Because there are loads of people interested in fine arts, I think a proper forum would be welcomed.
 
Actually, even with the Music forums there are at least 2 active threads on music. The one in Singles is 2 years old and still going. The one in Misc going for 5 years and still going.

The majority of forum topic suggestions requested are met with moderators suggesting to make a private group instead.
I don't think the majority of suggestions really support creating a section. Look at the India forums. Robo saw a large number of Indians on the site and believed this warranted a section devoted to India, yet despite what seems like a large enough population to put it into place it is one of the least used areas on the forums.

Of course none of this is my decision, i'm just giving you my take on things and providing the typical response mods give to such suggestions, which is 'start a private group'.
 
That's cool, I'm new here and it just seemed like a good idea to suggest it because I like photography and drawing myself, and have already seen several threads on it here. Who's Robo btw?
