I believe this is needed. Threads that are edification oriented end up in Miscellaneous and Family forums, or Bible Discussion, even though it makes no sense there. But I believe an online congregation should definitely have this.

Stuff that is being said for encouragment, exhortation and comfort, or building up in regards of Christian walk in general, imo does not belong in Bible Discussion Forum, even though it is based on the Word of God, because it's not focused on Biblical text (even though Scriptures might be cited), but on edification of believers.

What do you think?

I believe the Testimony section is considered to also be an edification section.

Though, personally, i don't see it working as a separate section. Still many of the threads would likely end up as debates or derails. And having mods more closely moderate the area won't work.

Nice idea, but on this site it wouldn't last long. Usually the mods suggest creating private groups when someone asks for a new forum area.

Sadly, there are some posters I have come to consider worth reading only after I have nothing GOOD left to read....
YOURS, My Dear One, are one of the FIRST I open, and always with joyous expectation.

I do believe we are not just a bunch of people discussing the Bible. We are a church just like any other. A church is a gathering of believers. Edification area with prophecying present (ehxorting, comforting and encouragment of the believers) to feed the sheep should be the first thing on the page! This was the reasoning of Edification or something to that extent being worthy of a separate forum. Just explaining where was I coming from. I will think about this and what could be done within the existing scope of things. Feel free to brainstorm everyone.

@Ugly thank you for the reply. I do see where you're coming from, it might easily end up with some people pushing their denominational teachings and telling everybody else they are going to hell unless they comply. That is certainly not the vision I have in mind, lol. Testimony is though basically stories about coming to Christ, but where's the part for what's going on the believer's journey afterwards in the walk? (except ending up arguing on BDF, LOL)

Thanks everyone for the support, btw

I know what a testimony is, but i have seen Mods encourage people to use the Testimony section for other forms of encouragement as well. Since part of the point of a testimony is to provide encouragement to others.

Sounds like a good idea except I just got yelled at yesterday by someone pretending to be edifying and I still don't know why he/she was so angry. It seems some pastors yell their sermons, so it could be of that way of thinking, but I really don't like getting yelled at, particular when I didn't do anything -- right or wrong -- connected to the yell.

It's not really meant that way (as yelling). I know exactly what you're talking about, I dont like the raising of the tone either... but some pastors are like that, very passionate, as well as the audience. It's a regional, traditional and temperamental thing alltogether, not really meant against anybody - try to look past the "clothes" and look at what is being said, or just change to another sermon. :)
