I poked my nose in a few threads here in the BDF. I knew better than to post anything, as it would be an exercise in futility and frustration. But I started thinking maybe we need a disclaimer in this thread, something that is automatically posted at the top of every page, that informs visitors this thread is different from the other threads here.

Also I got a little depressed. "Nothing new under the sun" is an understatement. Everywhere I looked the same old arguments were being trotted out in the same old way, as though the person making the post had just thought of them. Maybe we should make a few thread templates for the most common threads, fill said templates with the standard arguments and counter-arguments and sticky them. Every time someone starts yet another bible version argument we can direct him to the Bible Versions template. "Here, we've already compiled the whole debate. Get back to us if you have anything to say that has not been said there."

I only have one bitty pet peeve about any thread. Is the ones someone starts asking for advice, and they get many prayers, many posts from worried Christians. Then they get mad because they already had their mind made up from start. Lol...I mean why post a thread for advice, when you won't take it? Lol...its like,...seriously?

Did anyone watch A.D. last night? It was better than other movies, I thought.

Yay people are stirring and the Blond has been up since well probably about the time you guys went to bed....playing dominos online with a partner and winning and backgammon and loosing....and writing a lot by myself....but You are up now yay!!! Skylove you are right we probably would have met on this thread, but it was other threads and my dead cat that brought us together......

Good news is though that I have made new friends in this thread and loving every one of them......besides we get sparkly things in this thread it is kind of dull in other places but we shine real bright here......thanks to Roxxy......

I don't really understand how or why people check their posts with individual forum rooms (like BDF). I use <NEW POSTS>, thus seeing everything recently posted.

But I understand that some people really do stay, primarily, on one forum. So, for that reason, I don't think I've ever started a thread on the BDF. Because I have to admit to not really liking some posters on there... I consider many of them to be either deliberately hateful or just totally confused. I put most of my threads on <MISCELLANEOUS>.

I get the feeling you take it well.....chocolate pudding is not so bad even with gummy worms......lol
Speaking of getting picked on, here is the link to Michael Hardin's regular Sunday morning sermons that weekend he was here. (I still can't understand why that list wouldn't download for you... I've sent it to three other people, and it opened fine to the <DOWNLOAD> page.)

Anyway here is the link to his "first & second services". At about 19:00 into the second service, he nails this old man right between the eyes.

It's because I'm old, and don't really care, or even listen too much, if people say bad stuff about me. Shoot, some of those BDF people have even made sure I know I'm going to Hell.

Uh.... I belong to a denomination where we get that a lot because we seldom give much credence to the Theological bunk men have come up with to imprison people beneath the burden of.

Les Miserables? one of the greatest novels depicting Law and Grace of all time, imo.

Javert is the essence of Law---relentlessly pursuing sinners.
Monseigneur Bienvenu is the essence of Grace. i smile when i read the book,
because bienvenu(e) means welcome. :)

I remember a quote from a movie I saw once. The movie was about time travel (don't ask.) A girl went to ask her aunt for advice because she thought she was going back and forth through time.

AUNT: "Actually it happens a lot. It happened to me before."
NIECE: "Really?"
AUNT: "Yeah. Okay, say you wake up on a beautiful Sunday morning and you think to yourself, 'Aaaahh, I'm not going to do anything today.' Sound familiar?"
NIECE: "Yeah."
AUNT: "And before you know it, it's nighttime, and you're like, 'What happened to my beautiful Sunday?' It comes as quite a shock."
NIECE: "I wish you would take me seriously..."
