Kind of like you go into a room to get something and you forgot what you were doing there....so you go back to where you started to pick up you thought......only I was in the car....get it now? Maybe it's just a Blond thing......lol
I used to deliver papers and one house had a milk box built into the wall. The customer actually had me leave the paper in it. She didn't have to go outside to get it, she had a door on the inside.

It was called phone phreaking. There were different modes, from "clicking" an old switch-hook phone to generating tones that emulated what the phone system used to route calls. Before computers, phone systems would communicate "what you do with this call" instructions in different ways, and "phreakers" would decipher these ways to try to place calls for free or play pranks. Placing calls for free was actually a crime, "toll fraud."
One method of routing calls involved the receiving phone system listening for a tone at a specific frequency. Think of it like a person listening for a singer singing in the key of A. One of the toys in the Cap'n Crunch cereal box was a whistle, like the old sea captains used. Someone found out you could use it to make exactly the tone the phone system was listening for and fool the phone system into placing a long distance call for free.
