Being a single mother raising my daughter alone the whole time I was so lucky when she was in High School the in thing to do with her group of peers was to go by clothes at the Sunshine Thrift Store on south side St. Pete and I felt so fortunate to hand her $20.00 and she would be happy as a pig in dirt call a girlfriend and off to the Thrift Store they went and she was so excited to show me her bargain finds when she returned home....Thank God I felt so very lucky that was the in thing for her group of kids to do.....whew.....save a single mom a lot....

when our older kids were teens, they had to babysit for wants.
(wants being anything other than basic clothes, a pair of shoes and boots, a winter coat)
hand-me-downs a plenty.
the two youngest? a bit more spoiled. (i'm still not gonna buy you an i-phone, but...)

I was spoiled...my youngest sister was 9 years older than me....she ended up buying me my first cellphone when she went off to college, so we could text back and forth and talk to each other...that was awesome because I was bullied horribly at school and she was my bestfriend...

I understand what you are saying I have such a weird sleep schedule that I feel like I play by myself in this thread a lot in the early AM but having been single for 35 years helped me learn to entertain myself if I need to....I am just glad there are posts to catch up on for my entertainment. By the time I catch up either it is the evening crew or I am tired and end up in bed before everyone else....Such is life. I sure do enjoy mine though.... Thanks Dad in Heaven that I am still alive to enjoy life!

My sister and I grew up where we were each others best friend and when she started seeing her now husband our relationship took a big hit and she hurt me in ways I can't describe. I can't trust her and it has impacted how I trust others. Actually, in the past year we have been making huge improvements in our relationship and she now realizes that she wants to have me in her life, which makes me feel good. She even wants to start spending more quality time with me. To be honest, I am still hesitant but I love her and she is the only sister that I will ever have and I want to be sure I can have a relationship with her especially since I have seen my parents relationships with their siblings fall apart, I don't want that to happen. Granted, I have forgiven her for everything but trust takes a long time to rebuild.
