I liked school, but only for certain classes... and for lunch. That's it. I had shorter days my Senior year which was a godsend... but for the most part, my friends were what made school tolerable...

And go figure, If I was the Senior.... my closest friend were usually a grade below me, Cause I was the friendliest senior there. :D
I'm sorry to say this, but if you liked school lunches, there really might be something wrong with you.

That was MEAN!!!

I bet her daughter is just as lovely as She is! :p
I have a colleague who is a very dear friend and we do a lot of work together. I have known Dr Strong for almost 30 years yet oddly enough I have never met his wife. I mentioned this to him one day by remarking that in all the years he and I have been acquainted I could not remember ever having met his wife to which he replied, "If you had met her you would remember."

because Marilyn Monroe got paid big bucks to make us look like idiots :-(
Marilyn was a bottle blonde. Your real nemesis is Rosalie Duthé, a failed French novice who left her convent to become a high-society mistress, attempting a short-term stint as a ballerina and singer before returning to her "true talent."

In a book titled "On Blondes," Joanne Pitman printed this assessment of her by a playwright who wrote a one-acter about her, describing her as a ...

"Machine: a very beautiful and extremely curious contrivance representing a handsome woman. It performs all the actions of a living creature, eating, drinking, dancing, and singing as if it were endowed with a mind. This mechanical woman can actually strip a foreigner to his shirt in a matter of seconds. Its only difficulty is with speech. Experts have already given up hope of curing this defect and admirers prefer to study the machine’s movements.”

Don't hate on auburn-haired-turned-blonde Marilyn. It's all Rosalie's fault!

i survived high school by spending as little time there as i possibly could.

i was blessed in that i could call my mom at work and say,
i can't take it here one more minute; i want to walk into town to the library!

if i didn't have a test upcoming, she told me to go for it.

so i did, and sat in the lovely quiet looking at books about art and history
and classic novels (but not Tolstoy--no time! ;) ).

i wonder how much more i learned there than at school?
thanks, mom. ♥
A mom light years ahead of her time. Tell her she has another fan here :)

I liked school lunch, but in my defense was when the school ordered Subway. Granted that was only once a year, but hey the school paid for it not me.

Only on Wednesdays. That was hamburger day, and with a token (which was actually a Missouri mill coin -- you remember those, Willie? -- painted white) you could buy as many extra 'burgers as you wanted for 5¢.

I went to a small high school we had three choices: hot entree, bring your own, or nothing. Quite a few times I would fit into the nothing category.

Thank you Father for a wonderful new day!! The sun is shining brightly here, and the snow continues to melt!! Warmer temps too than what we've been having so Praise you Jesus again!! (and again, and again and again......... never ending!!)

Got my blood work done and over with yesterday ... the results always come the next day so here I sit chewing my nails ... I wish I could just let go and not worry ... I know that we all have to Trust in God and cast all of our anxiety's etc onto Him ... so why does my stomach ache with worry?? :(

I thank God too......many times, over and over.......Indiana is the only state I have been in that sells sugar cream pie in stores and it is to die for... I tried to find it in Kentucky when I lived there and brought home a custard pie thinking that was the same and was disgusted..... Thanks for calling me sugar pie cause the sugar cream is one of my very favorites....I'll see if I can find a picture of one.....You are such a sweetie Skylove....

Sugar Cream Pie
1 1/2 c. sugar, 6 Tbsp. flour, dash of salt
2 c. coffee cream, 1 tsp. vanilla, nutmeg
1/2 stick butter, sliced
1 – 9 inch unbaked pie shell
Mix sugar, flour, & salt; then add coffee cream and vanilla.
Pour into pie shell.
Cover with butter and sprinkle with nutmeg.
Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes.
Reduce heat to 300 degrees for an additional 15 minutes

When it says coffee cream they mean either whipping cream or half and half.....also another pie recipe called for 2 eggs beaten...
Published Sep 30, 2010 in Pies
This recipe was clipped from a newspaper and found in a large collection, date unknown. I’ve typed it out below along with a scanned copy.

Beat together 15 minutes: Two cups sugar, two tablespoons margarine, pinch of salt and two eggs. Then add five tablespoons flour; beat well. Add two cups milk, one teaspoon vanilla and dash of cinnamon or nutmeg. Put in unbaked pie shell; bake 15 minutes at 450; then reduce temperature to 350 and bake until set.

Make sure you use cream and not milk....hence the name sugar cream pie.....
. JL!.....I love sugar pie too! Thank you! Oh my its sooo good! I'm going to make one! Lol

Me too, brother. Me too. I was lucky if I was 5'5 during most of high school. I'm now 6'5.
I was 5'4" in high school. After grade 12, I became 5'6". That's all. :(

It's ironic because in primary school, I used to be taller than the average height of the kids in my class.

I spent my extra time in the math room or school library....there was a group of us that would meet in the library every morning....except for my senior year, then I used mysenior-privileges to go home....Eat lunch, watch Matlock or macgyver, then go back for my other classes....i may have snuck into detention before so I could talk to the teacher...

I was 5'-1" and weight 115 at the end of my 8th grade year. When I came back in the fall as a freshman, I was 5'-10" and weighed 175. What's more, I had always kept my hair cut in a butch cut in elementary and junior high. That summer I let it grow out and it was curly! Who'duh thunk? And my voice changed to a resonating baritone.

I had people coming up to me who had known me since first grade saying, "Hey, welcome to our school! I'm ______________."

"Yeah, I know. I'm Mike. Mike! Yes ... Really!!"

Took some convincing for them to believe me. I went from playing wingback and safety on the junior high team to being the starting fullback and middle linebacker on the high school team, and before the season was over, I had put on another 30 pounds and grown another 3". I couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time!

Man, I could block and tackle though!
