I have a serious question for the Catholics here. Is the RCC necessary for salvation? See I was saved by Christ in my home completely alone with no preachers, priest, any people, or any organization there. The honest truth is I didn't actually even call out His name, or ask God for any help at all at my regeneration.

I had come to a place in life where I wanted nothing but death. I had suicidal thoughts every 5 minutes of every day for 2 years. I had just hit the end of my own road and realized I could do NOTHING to help my situation. My pride had come to the end of its road and I was left there in life completely broken. The world showed me exactly what it offered and I couldn’t take it anymore. The day I was saved I just hit my knees in the middle of my room all alone and cried out, “I can’t do this anymore, I can’t do this anymore, I can’t do this anymore. World you win I lose, and I quit”. That was it because at this point I thought I was already a Christian so I wasn’t seeking Him or His help and came to the realization that I couldn’t help me either. The next morning I woke up completely different, the suicidal thoughts were gone and I was seeing the world for the first time in so many different ways. The main point is that I was made an all-new creature just like scripture says. That night the Holy Spirit entered me and turned my heart of stone to a heart of flesh and removed the scales from my eyes. I didn’t even know exactly what happened, but I knew it was from God. It took my about a week to realize what had taken place, but I was 100% supernaturally reborn and God had revealed Himself to me and saved my soul.

Again I did not have a priest, pastor, reverend, building, special prayer (I had said this “sinners prayer” 5 years earlier and was then declared saved, but wasn’t at all BTW), Church, Mary’s or any saints prayers. All I had was my broken self, the realization I needed saving, submitting my selfish pride, and Jesus Christ loving mercy and sacrifice, and I was saved. Would y’all say I’m saved or just delusional? If not I would like to get your advice on what steps I would need to take according to the RCC to become saved, what it was I experienced, and how I changed overnight to a degree that everyone that knows me and sees me regularly cannot even start to deny. I would also be interested in hearing the testimony of any of your conversions as well (if anyone even feels like sharing), just to hear about the power of our Gods salvation.

Let me ask you something kayla girl.... do you talk regularly with your pastor and asks the pastor to pray for you? if so, I'm pretty sure your pastor doesn't turn you away by saying, "Don't talk to me! Don't ask me to pray for you! Go straight to Jesus!" No..I bet your pastor has compassion and "intercedes" (stands in the gap) for him. He prays for the congregation and for individuals. He has compassion and wants to assist people in their relationship with Christ. This in no way diminishes Jesus' role as the Lord and Saviour.
We Catholics believe heaven is not a "dead" place, and Scripture shows it. We Catholics believe people in heaven are alive. (Mat 19:29, 25:46, 10:17-22, Mk 10:30, Lk 10:25-30, Lk 18:18-30, Jn 3:15-16). Catholics ask Mary to pray to Jesus for us. Did you know that Mary is a "born again" Christian who received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and spoke in tongues 2000 years before Pentecostals got the gift? (Acts 1:14, 2:3). She knows how to pray kayla, even in tongues!

Many Christians (maybe you) reading this will have had powerful experiences with the Holy Spirit. It is amazing when he comes upon us. Some of us have experienced miraculous healing. But who among us has experienced the power of the Holy Spirit in such a way that the God of the universe became flesh inside us. Mary experienced the Holy Spirit like none of us have. So you see Kayla, In the Rosary, we Catholics ask Mary to "Pray for us sinners."
We think Mary is totally alive, and is praying for us the way your faithful pastor would pray for you and his congregation, except much more so. She's interceding for the unborn, for mothers contemplating abortion, and for many others who are experiencing sorrows in our world, and who need Jesus.

"Was" called Blessed? Are you forgetting Lk.1:48?

You are forgetting her Immaculate Conception.

Pax Christi

"From henceforth, all generations shall call me Blessed." ---Luke 1:48

Have you done that lately?

Quote "do you talk regularly with your pastor and asks the pastor to pray for you?" My pastor prays along WITH me,he has no more special powers or line to God then I do. The Bible says we can come "boldly before the throne". We dont need anyone to pray for us.Christ is the link between God and man.We dont need a priest/pastor as a go between. That was OT.

Quote "Catholics ask Mary to pray to Jesus for us. Did you know that Mary is a "born again" Christian who received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and spoke in tongues 2000 years before Pentecostals got the gift? (Acts 1:14, 2:3). She knows how to pray kayla, even in tongues! " No where in the Bible does it talk about Mary praying for anyone. And I know how to pray in tongues, why would I need Mary or anyone else to pray for me?

Quote "we Catholics ask Mary to "Pray for us sinners." First of all Jesus saves us,we dont need Mary to pray for us.Mary did not pray for anyone in the Bible. Jesus did everything on the cross so we can go to HIM in prayer.

Quote "Was" called Blessed? Are you forgetting Lk.1:48?" Yes called blessed because she bore the Savior. That does not give her any special powers. She was blessed because she obeyed God and bore the Savior. She worked no miracles, healed no one, saved no one.

Quote " You are forgetting her Immaculate Conception." HER? Mary was born of parents the same as all of us.Christ died for her sins and saved her like the rest of us.Mary is as human as I am and you are.

Agreed - now that there has been name calling, accusations, and counter-accusations, let us get back to discussion of scripture and clarifying Catholic faith.

I am looking forward to seeing how Fordman's challenge plays out.

I am also looking for an answer to the following question - Do non-Catholics believe the angel Gabriel has a share in God's knowledge but Mary does not? If so, why?
The angel Gabriel knows precisely what God wants him to know so that he can fulfil his duties. Why should God let any human being in on that? You seem incapable of recognising that Mary was and is an ordinary human being, who to her credit fulfilled a particular task that only a woman could do. Later she revealed the same inadequacy that we all share and tried to interfere in Jesus' ministry for which she was firmly put in her place. She gave Him little support in His life, but shaken by Hid death came back to faith as a consequence of the resurrection. She was treated by the early church simply as one of them and there is no hint anywhere that she received any special treatment. Her so-called immaculate conception is pure myth. There is not a hint of it in Scripture

I believe in the priesthood of all believers and that Christ alone is the Intermediary between man and God!

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:5.

...and we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous. 1 John 2:1.

..and so I could never believe in the "cult of Mary"and the "Mariolatry'of the Roman Catholic Church, which makes Mary more merciful than Christ, and the saints more attentive to human need than is our blessed Lord.

Not one of these distorted beliefs about Mary can be substantiated by the Bible. They are rather, and significantly enough, mere figments of the fertile imaginations of celibate priests and popes.

One can thus see the development of the "Cult of Mary" from it's earliest beginnings to the announcement, in 1054, of the Immaculate Conception; to the announcement, in 1950, of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin; to the belief in Mary as coredemptrix of the human race, which in all practical ways is already accepted as fact and awaits only the official pronouncement by the "infallible" pope in Rome for it to become mandatory upon all Roman Catholics for salvation.

And this is but one issue I admonish to contend with in the Roman Catholic beliefs. Mary is not all I have problems with in view of God's Word.

I believe the Church is made up of all born-again Christians. 1 Cor. 12:12-13.
I believe that Christ Himself is the Head of His Church. Col. 1:18.
I believe that when Christ died on a cross He died once and for all. Heb. 10:11-12.
I believe that the observance of the Lord's supper is a symbolic remembrance of Christ's death. 1 Cor. 11:24.
I believe the Bible to be a sufficient and adequate guide as it is interpreted by the Holy Spirit. Mark 7:7-9.
I believe that only God can forgive sin. Dan. 9:9. / Isa. 55:7.
I believe that original sin is cleansed from the human heart by the baptism with Holy Ghost and fire. Matt. 3:11/ Acts 15:8-9.
I believe that the souls of the righteous go immediately at death to be with the Lord in paradise. Rev. 14:13.
I believe in freedom and liberty. Acts 15:10/ John 8:36.

"This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."

Matthew 15:8-9.

Mary does not have a share in God's knowledge because Mary was a mere human and a sinner. Gabriel is an Angel who does have knowledge from God that Mary cannot understand!

Mary was chosen ONLY for her womb and nothing else! Abraham had MORE of God's knowledge than Mary! So why are you corrupted Catholics not worshiping Abraham?

Mary was only used to give a body that the Son of God could use it to walk on this World! After Mary had Jesus she disappeared from the scene and the focus was on Jesus not Mary.

Luke 11:27-28
27 And it came about while He said these things, one of the women in the crowd raised her voice, and said to Him, " Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts at which You nursed."
28 But He said, "On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and observe it."

We are blessed more than Mary because we have the Word of God and observe it. You Mattp0625 do not have the Word of God in you. You instead follow the false teachings of the Catholic Church and not the Truth from the Holy Spirit in the Scriptures. How can you say you have the Truth in you when you believe that Mary was without sin and was assumed into Heaven?

Its the Holy Spirit who has all the Truth! Its the Scriptures from the Holy Spirit which are the Truth. How can the Catholic Church be a "Pillar" of the Truth when they teach Mary was without sin and was assumed into Heaven? Clearly the Holy Spirit says ALL have sinned! If ALL had sinned then Mary was a sinner.

The problem with you Mattp0625 is that Mary is your Master. You serve Mary as your Master. The Holy Spirit in the Scriptures says you cannot serve two Masters!

Luke 16:13
[SUP]13 [/SUP] No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.

You Mattp0625 cannot serve God AND Mary!

Reject Mary and give 100% of your Heart, Soul, Mind, and Strength to God! If you give anything to Mary you are not giving your 100% to God which IS a Mortal sin that will keep you from entering into Heaven.

Mark 12:29-31
[SUP]29 [/SUP] Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
[SUP]30 [/SUP] And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
[SUP]31 [/SUP] The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

There is NO greater commandment then giving God 100% of you Soul,Mind,Heart, and Strength to God! You Mattp0625 are breaking the greatest commandment ever by giving anything of yourself to Mary! This is a Mortal sin that God cannot forgive you for!

But i do know this is falling on deaf ears because you do not have the Holy Spirit in you and cannout understand Spiritual things from God.
I do not worship Mary or consider her God. I ask her to pray for me. She is a created being, and a saint, who is highly favored by God and the mother of my Lord

There is a commandment regarding false accusations.

1 Corinthians 6 is very inconvenient to your statements. That is, of course, unless you consider it to be symbolic only...

matt, just a few posts back you even quoted GOD'S WORD that condemns you and all who trust in rcc catholicism.
you don't seek to be saved. you don't seek jesus. you don't seek truth. you have swallowed THE LIE.

this is not a question for discussion. this is not a question. this is a fact. rcc is heresy.

it is against the ruies to promote heresy on this site. it is specifically against the rules to promote rcc catholic heresy on this site (people may be warned and banned if they promote catholic doctrines, faith or practices on this site; that is good, as it should be - they should be banned if they promote rcc at all, because that is directly opposed to yahshua's GOOD NEWS/ THE GOSPEL/ TRUE FAITH/ YAHWEH/ THE BIBLE).

we already know there is NO GOOD THING in nor can come from rcc catholicism.
The bible says the RCC by name and says not to trust it? Okay!!!
I suppose you cannot debate with someone who says there is not a question!
Is the most important thing in your heart the love of man or being absolutely right with no questions asked?

Jim, well done with your conversion. No one in the RCC would condemn you at all! We applaud you on your prayer and finding Jesus and life!!

RCC happens to believe in its ties to the Apostles as well as the sacraments. Repeat - the RCC does not condemn you!! We do not promote hostility toward other denominations! Notice you have not seen me participate in name calling or insulting others. That is mostly true of my Catholic friends here (some fun jousting, perhaps, but I did not see open hostility).

The RCC believes, however, in its fullness of truth. I encourage you to find Catholic confession and Eucharist. From my own experience, I have no doubt it would strengthen you on your journey, increase your faith, and increase the amount of peace you can experience. It would also make you think twice before committing a sin if you have to say it out loud before the priest (the representative) and Jesus (God, Savior, High Priest, Forgiver, the Christ, Son of God). We do not rely on Mary for salvation, we just honor her as highly favored by God, mother of our Lord, and we ask her for prayers.

Jim, to summarize, the RCC would be ecstatic you found Jesus!! We would not condemn you for the beliefs we do not hold in common.

I do not know which is worse? The arrogance or the hypocrisy. Who cares what Rome thinks? Rome cannot save itself let alone aid a seeker of true redemption.

Strength for the journey is found in Gods word not in rites and religious ceremonies. The church founded on the apostles was founded in Jerusalem not in Rome.

Rome is like the thief on the cross who endeavored to manipulate Christ not the thief who sought mercy from Christ.

You really have no idea what 1 Corinthians 6 is teaching by the way. It really is of no consequence until you understand John 3:15-21 it does not apply to you.

However, right now, she is a saint in heaven. 1 Corinthian 6 tells us they are at least on a level playing field with the angels.

Pope Benedict XVI told us Mary is the woman clothed with the sun. Benedict XVI was a professor of theology at numerous universities, a published author, spoke several languages and participated on many councils. I would like to know your qualifications for interpreting scripture which make you better suited for the task.

Who is arrogant and hypocritical? The person who just gave kudos to Jimbone (of a different denomination) or the hostile person dispersing insults and condemnation?

Arrogance to assume that it matters what your church teaches outside of your church. Hypocritical in that you cannot save yourself. If a blind man leads a blind man will they both not fall in the ditch?

Teach from the bible and not the RCC catechism.

Oh my you are really wrong about 1 Corinthians 6.

Pope Benedict could not tell you how to be saved and know you have eternal life. That a small child can comprehend yet it eluded a man of great education. Scripture says that they professed to be wise as in well educated but they became foolish in the face of the simple truth of Gods word. Romans 1:22

and just a little bit biased in his interpretations, seeing what he wanted to see? He was at a Roman Catholic university, and all his life was spent among Roman Catholics. Few Roman Catholic scholar are seen as real scholars outside Roman Catholic circles, they are too limited by the requirements of their religion. I can give you the names of any number of REAL scholars who do not accept his view. Besides I am a published author, But as Paul said we do not look to the wisdom of this world. We should look to those of genuine spiritualty. And your Daddy Benedict, who was forbidden by Jesus to call Himself 'father', is not one of them. Remember it was the religious scholars who crucified Christ because He showed that they were all wrong.

Yes nice picture. Face value - look at the man praying to the statue.
What is really happening, friend, is he is kneeling to honor Mary, with the statue as a reminder (e.g. he is not attaching divinity to the statue) asking her for her prayer.

The issue here is you are using a picture at face value, assuming you know everything that is happening, and assuming you know Catholic beliefs better than Catholics do.

The next issue is that you are using false accusations to openly discredit a faith.

Ok. Who has the real truth? The forefathers of the Lutherans? The Adventists? The Baptists? The Methodists? The Pentecostals? The Presbyterians?

Then, I await your qualifications.
