This topic is sad for me to write about because, just by the title, it sounds like I am blaming God of something or that he is holding out on me. I know he isn't but it's hard to deal with as a young adult growing up in my last few years of High school to figure out what in the WORLD I'm supposed to be doing. . .

Maybe I'm too young to be trying to find out the future for me, because if I knew right NOW what they rest of my Life will hold there would be no growth. No making mistakes and learning from them, no experiencing new things, no falling on my face and picking myself up. But, the frustration I feel when I see people already knowing what they are going to do with themselves is just unbearable and it. . literally, saddens me deep to my core.

I feel so worthless sometimes.

Even if those people do have a plan but it doesn't go through, at least they have drive. They had something planned and they worked hard at it. Something I can't say I've done.

I'm not very good at anything. . .I'm not doing my best in school. .I'm just not worth much in my eyes.

Why God wanted me on this Earth, I have no idea. .

I've asked him to make it clear, I've asked him to show me. It has yet to come. So, for now. . all I can do is just live life as minimum as possible until he wants to show me.

I don't see myself doing much else.

For some people it just hits them one day, like POW! You could be one of those that simply hasn't hit your "pow moment" yet. In any case, always put your best foot forward and step outside of your comfort zone. At least then you can say you're trying, and that's exactly how you discover whatever "it" is.

Thanks, Spiderman. I feel what you are saying.

Appreciate you.

God does want us to understand his will for our lives,
but his will is often different than what we imagine.

1. His primary will for our lives is to BE closer to him.
We are to BE in a close relationship with HIM.
What God primarily wants is for us to walk with him closer, and love him more...
our relationship is the most important thing to God.

2. The first concern to God, as mentioned above,
is that we BE what we should BE (be in close relationship with Him)
but God ALSO wants us to understand what to DO.

3. There are certain things in scripture that God wants ALL of us to do...
these are things we don't need to pray about.

God wants all of us to grow spiritually, live a moral life, have a good church to help us grow better, learn the bible, spend time in prayer etc.
There are important things all of us are to do.

These things are FOUNDATIONAL to the more specific things God will show you about your life.
When we are doing these foundational things, then we are growing spiritually,
and God is able to direct us down our path in other areas of our life.
These things MUST be given priority.
: )

4. Finally, there are very specific things about your life which God DOES want you to know.
He has plans to reveal to you about your education, vocation, spouse, family, particular areas of ministry etc.
But there are some problems with these things.

A. God never promises to reveal everything to us at once!
B. God never promises to reveal everything to us very far in advance!
C. Sometimes he only shows us the path a tiny bit ahead, and we have to TRUST HIM, and start down that path.

God will always reveal to you the thing you should be doing RIGHT NOW.
He will always make that clear.
You have to trust him, and obey, and do that thing that is IN FRONT OF YOU, for RIGHT NOW.
When you do that thing you're supposed to do NOW, he'll show you what is next.

So, I'm sure God has shown you something you should be doing right now.
Maybe he's put it into your conscience to worker harder at school, or to get an after-school job, or get more involved at church, or read your bible more... whatever it is, I'm certain God has shown you things you need to do RIGHT NOW.

Your job is to trust God, and do those things he's shown you do do right now.
AS YOU DO THOSE THINGS... he'll begin to show you what is next.

God Bless,
Max

Who is forcing an itinerary upon you? I would encourage you to get highly involved in an organized soup kitchen, or church/community fund raiser or awareness program, or charitable/ homeless shelter drive....anything that has to do with helping other people instead of worrying over your own future. Guess what...in no time, GOD will begin to move and show you that your focus needs to be on HIM, first, others, Second and YOU, last. How do you do this? Make sure you are growing spiritually, in a homebased church or congregation that is a BIBLE believing, Holy Spirit led group. The more you help others, the more you are putting peace, joy, fullfillment, direction into your own life. At last, you now know the secret...pass it on and live it, starting NOW!

I don't see myself doing much else.

Wise man once said "God made you a human being, not a human doing." Despite popular opinion your value doesn't depend on your abilities or achievements.

Other wisdom I've sort of picked up or been given along the way: "Life is always toughest at transition" I particularly hate transitional times, but the best way I've found to deal with them is just to know it's going to be stressful and how I am prone to handle that stress and try not to fall into bad coping mechanisms.

As far as figuring life out well in the 15 years since I graduated high school (good grief I'm getting old): I spent 4 years in university getting an engineering degree that I wasn't very passionate about, but was good at the classwork to get it. I used that degree to get a job 800 miles from home and had a very difficult and miserable year. Quit that job and moved back in with my parents, started sub teaching in the public schools which led to a full time position working with ESL students for a year. Left that job to start doing short term missions stuff and bounced between being overseas at different centers and being home sub teaching for a few years. Came home to get my stuff in order so I could go overseas longer term, various different temp jobs including a long term temp job measuring houses for the county to update their property records. And most recently 3 years overseas to do a project and realizing that this whole living overseas thing (at least where I am) doesn't fit my personality well and I'm not sure I want to keep doing it.

All that to say, you don't have to figure it all out now. Most people have a few false starts or find out that the reality of doing what they thought they would love isn't so great. What God wants most is for you to be faithful where you are now and live in a manner worthy of the gospel. What you accomplish or what field of work you enter is of secondary importance, no matter how much high school guidance counselors and university degree programs try to make it seem otherwise.

On a practical note to move forward though, if you haven't you might want to take some sort of skills inventory / career matching test (talk to your guidance counselor or search online). See what might be a good fit for you even if it's just to get some ideas of what to try out.
