Are bikinis immodest?

This starts on page 9, and is all over MarcR being honest about googling a bikini before he commented on something given he hasnt seen what passed for one today (verses 10 years ago) as he didnt consider all of them immodest. He also stated that he changed his mind concerning them because of a certain kind he ran into on a google search.

MarcR got slammed with a tempting God (verse himself) by Phil and Jeff_56 come in to rescue MarcR from judgment and Jeff now is the big judger in the end.

Thing is, here you have this guy who is extolling all the things of the world, the flesh and the devil that are preeminent of his perception of existence, for all people, he presumes. Some like alcohol, some like drugs, porn is God's creation, blah, blah, blah, that this is my paradigm, who he doesn't even know? No, what he's really saying, "This is my life." This is what he sees as reality. Then, as lowbrow as it can get, he moves on to some kind of completely ignorant projection on to my sexual history he knows exactly zero about, saying, "Seriously, you're going to tell me you have been with a woman and once was enough?" Tells me to read Song of Solomon, which I know, thoroughly, finished that study about 25 years ago.

This is embarrassing to see a 59 year old man going on like this in a Christian forum, knowing nothing of me, the only evidence I see that he's been apparently so deprived as to still have his seat of consciousness raging between his legs, often symptomatic of people who've not gotten it out of their system sufficiently: this is the thinking of a frustrated virgin.

Then the denouement, that the world, flesh and the devil reigns supreme, and, because his seat of consciousness has not relocated from between his legs at this late date in his life, everything is like what's on TV to his perception, all people are this way, and I quote that sexual tension, that flesh preeminence, seething, "It has a draw to it more powerful than anything man has made. Kingdoms have been destroyed over it, lives lost, marriages broken, children abandoned......incredible." Yeah, right, devil still has somebody overpowered by testosterone and an undisciplined, reprobate mind of the world, a 59 year old Christian, whose genitals are still potential nuclear destruction or something?

This is in the dictionary under the arrested development I was speaking of, a 59 year Christian, projecting all that? That's a personal problem, the major flaw of his post is that none of that problem is mine. What I see is just pathetic, like a baby Christian, filled with the world still, a 59 year old bawling boy, calling me silly, calling me "son." Pathetic. That's all. Just pathetic.

if you did read on voilet did on hearsay (she said she had marc on ignore) continue to accuse marc
and
i continued to point out to voilet and jesusisall pointed out to phil the error/mistake/sin/missed the mark(sic) of their false assumptions and accusations('slamming')

so.... and you "judged" the same as me and jesusisall -- seeing the correct way that phil (and later violet) 'slammed' marc without just cause and got worse doing so when it was pointed out...

I believe that bikini's are immodest because they show too much skin. In fact I believe bathing suits in general are immodest anyway. When people go shopping for any type of clothing they really need to think about if they wear that item would they give people the wrong idea. Our bodies are the temple of the holy spirit and what we wear or put on our bodies should reflect on who is inside our hearts. Granted, I don't know how to swim however when I do wear a bathing suit I wear a one piece an wear shorts and a t-shirt over top because of modesty. By the way I never wear shorts and if I do it is usually for pajamas and that is really rare.

Sorry Jeff I didnt mean to leave that hanging and leave that open to intepretation there. I just meant you didnt really enter into this thing judging so much but rather for the rescuing of MarcR from judgment (Phil's in this case). Whereas in the end you are being perceived more as the judger given the back and forths that come between you and violet for the most part. I love both Phil and MarcR, but they are two different personalities types. You also are different from them, you have this firey passion in you, that was something I didnt understand at first, but over time I understand you as actually meaning well. The Lord would rather one be hot or cold, and I cannot ever point my finger at you and say, there is a lukewarm fella right there.

I was going to stay out of this, but I had no problems with MarcR being honest that he googled a bikini for the reasons he did I goggled bathing suits and that is what come up quite naturally in a search (whether for men or women) and this is a thread for it. I actually understood what you meant when you were speaking of stumbling the other, I think Violet also misunderstood your passion, you can come off rather strong there Jeff_56 but I did like the fact that she took a breath and looked back over how you could have meant it.

I dont know where this will go, but I dont judge MarcR for googling a bikini but I dont agree with Phil on coming down so hard on him, and I only saw you trying to rescue MarcR from what can be perceived as Phil's harsher words on this. Then Violet taking up for whatever gap she saw between the two of you.

So just different folks who have an opinion (even strong ones) but I understood where you were coming from.

kept trying to defend such absurdly with more and more error...... perhaps they, one or more, was hurt before by someone , maybe badly, and haven't learned that others don't automatically or always think the same way whoever hurt them did/does/

and they haven't learned instead to hope for the best(in others when possible) and ask first (if it matters) when they don't understand someone instead of making unjust accusations based on their own false views and/or feelings.

What was most disappointing, to hear from a Christian, was mockery of being in opposition to these things of the world, the flesh and the devil we are supposed to be separated from, a most basic tenant of the faith, not that everybody's genitals have to rule supreme. Sorry, but that was exactly what he was saying, offended by a very real differing view and experience, in Christ! I mean, I didn't think this was the Playboy website.
