I could never understand the following.

Read this book - as in do this in the future tense
I read this book - as in I have just done that past tense

Same spelling

Then there are the following words

bone
tone
moan ( shouldn't this be spelt mone?)
Don't forget, "I shall have read." FP Tense.

How about this then.

I had to learn this off by heart in English Literature.
Its one of the few poems I can still remember from my time
at school :). How many spelling mistakes are here but yet
it still makes sense :)

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

'Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!'

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood a while in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One two! One two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

'And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
Oh frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

No. Since is pronounced with a long I, as in SIN. SINCE.

Since you mentioned sense, I feel (pun intended) like the 99 cents that's always slapped on the end of a price tag is foolish.

2.99, 3.99, and then the sales pitch, Buy it for less than $50.00. What's that? Only $49.99!

Sense and cents sound alike.
Since is more like sin.
Oh.No.

It is Sey-ents and See-ins.

"Here" is a preposition? Are you sure about that?

How about adverb or adjective?
You're right.

Incorrect: The car is parked over.
Correct: The car is parked over here.

Preposition are here and there words. But here and there are not prepositions.

Thank you!

would'nt've - Wow! That's a good idea. Makes plenty of sense to me. But nooooooo...it isn't allowable.

Don't forget, "I shall have read." FP Tense.
Well why stop there, Willie T?

Give us a bigger headache. "I had not been reading for no more than 5 minutes, when suddenly the wind blew my pages."

Just who's bright idea was it to/too/two decide we need more than one spelling of a word.
Don't they know what a strain it put on us with limited brain cells?
But it's not the same word.

I also see people mix up "advice" and "advise". "Advice" is the noun, and "advise" is the verb.

Depends on if it's pronounced or not.

E.g. "A hoverboard" or "a hologram" (because the H is pronounced) vs. "an hour" or "an herb" (because the H is not pronounced).
That's right -- it's all about the first SOUND.

Same thing with the word "the." Pronounced "thee" before a vowel sound and "thuh" before a consonant/semi-consonant.
