I wasnt sure if the board is doing something through a senior member or not but in BDB theres like nothing but spam posts from a million years and pages and pages worth of ancient threads bumped up for whatever reason.

If it is something the board is doing (knowingly) can we opt out?

Like is there a way for us to block this for ourselves so we can find the newer more relevant threads?

Thats sort of nuts all those threads, have you looked?

No I haven't looked yet but I certainly will. I've noticed it in other forums too, though it's usually someone who has pulled a zombie thread forward to respond to the OP, who may have been banned or left CC..

Its PAGES worth of sabbath law threads pulled forward from years ago I cant even find todays legitimate posts

When I say pages I am not saying a lot of OP pages I am sayng pages worth of of OP's and from five years ago and spammed with the commandments.

I cant even find a recent thread

Just go back and go back more in the pages, I have pictures of the same.

Heres just one of those pages

spam post pages.jpg

Same poster, and then go to page 2, 3, 4 and so on

Yes, I believe Sparkman is trolling big-time. This took him all of two hours. No, less than that. I've reported him twice, you can report him too.

My report button doesnt work (or so it doesnt seem) not on my end it doesnt turn over, I cant tell if it works, I dont see anything happen on my end, I have shared this before, Im at the mercy of others reporting a thing if they feel its wrong.

But even if you could report how can you really get across the vast amount of spam thats there? Its like he copy pasted 5 years worth of sabbath/law threads (copy pasted into each one) and submitted like some sort of malfuntioning bot lol

And heres the thing any hesitation on the report (lets just say 15 minutes) can be 5 additional pages of spam to sort through lol

I never saw anything like it, I think I was more shocked that it was a senior member

Sometimes it helps talking to the person doing it too. :)

(I let him know in this thread and he responded back)

That all well and good, but to do so on thread after thread after thread,is a bit of OVERKILL. And you did that on mainly DEAD THREADS. You could have just done so on one or two threads, not 50-100 of them. (I lost count after 50)

I think there are definitely upwards of 100 posts by Sparkman in those less than two hours. No way is that an accident and no way is he a senior member. I've never seen him before.

The proof will be if he didn't really mean to spam the boards and HE STOPS doing it or if he and DOESN'T STOP spamming the boards. If he didn't mean to and got carried away by his passion then a rebuke should be enough to stop one who is unaware of what they are doing.

Being a senior member is not by the amount time but goes by the number of posts.

I actually overlooked the fact that he was a (now) "senior member" (thru) the spam-bot-like stuff.

I never ever saw a spam bot do that kind of damage

Welp, clicking ignore wouldnt wont work in this situation, although it is a great time to take a forum vacation though. Perfect in for waiting till all those threads dissapear, which might be awhile since everyone is keeping them going now that they are up lol

It was a work of art how that was done

Good point, Sarah. We'll see.

DesiredHaven, he's not a spambot, but a human. I talked to him several times and each time he replied with something different.

I do know he is a human, I was speaking of spam bot"like" stuff in respects to pages of stuff (Ive never even seen a bot accomplish)

The worst Ive seen was something that happened at CF which was something like ten threads ("not" pages) of sabbath topics baumped up but that was the most I ever counted there.

Even back then you **sighed** because you were like, great, these will be going for quite awhile. And I thought that was bad? LOL! And just because you knew the conversations would all take a turn into the "planted" directions (in all the back and forths) because they were of the top ten threads bumped up on just the first page.

But in this case you have massive amounts of pages brought forward, and no present poster can find anything else to seek out in any other discussions even if searching pages back (for the most part). Not to mention any possible new poster watching all the present posters (who might just seem to them) to be so obsessed with Sabbath law here) I'd walk out ther door too LOL!

Like, what on earth?

They are probably thinking, these people are still discussing these same things from 2010 into 2015?

And its like the only thing they know to talk about (as they check back page after page after page after.. page...after...)

LOL!

Might be good to lock a thread when they become a year old as a preventative, wouldnt stop browsing but bumping them up after so much time has gone by, but especially on like topics which this is typically done with.

forget locking the threads after so much time of inactivity..after a time, say like 3 months of no one posting on a thread, they should just self-delete themselves. Problem solved of pulling zombie threads forward. :)

well, if the threads self-deleted after a certain time of inactivity, it WOULD solve the zombie thread getting pulled forward thread..
This was just an exceptionally weird case lol

Just wondered why spam is called spam.

Spam can actually be quite nice when in the confines of a tin :)
