I've seen these internet testimonies. at first i thought were scams but then i thought yeah i guess that's the way it might happen. what are the chances that God is showing us a glimpse of the future?

My personal thought is that I would be skeptical about them

For example, there was a book and a movie made about a boy who supposedly went to heaven and then came back and told his story

People were ecstatic about it...took it for proof (do we need faith then?)

This boy, now older, has revealed that his father had him say those things..there is not truth to the story

the bible is super clear on this. scriptures say it is appointed once for men to die and then the judgement also paul was FORBIDDEN to say what he saw when he went to heaven.
I have met Ian Mc Cormack and heard his testimony. I thought it was true until I read the truth of the bible scripture says let god be true and everyman a liar much love in Christ settled

this is just too silly to be dumb

while on the subject, don't forget Jesus whom God raised from the dead

Read the Bible...we don't get to die multiple times or get a do-over

I'm not sure what is your point here, you don't believe Jesus raised Lasurus from death?

I'm not saying it is something that is available to everyone, only that it happened.

ok guys i think were getting hung up on the definition of death. my point was how real are out of body or another dimension travel. are these people experiencing what we all will see soon?

I don't know if ppl are really dying and coming back to life--- but I do believe that God could give us visions. And there are people whose body is dead (heart stopped for over 20 minutes) and then come back.

For those who are saying that the bible says man is appointed to die only once...

There are plenty of people who have died on an operating table with doctors and nurses present who witnessed the stopping of their heart for some time before they were brought back to life and the heart started beating again. Whether they had an experience or not doesn't matter.. the fact is that they did die and came back to life.

The context is:

"And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him." -Hebrews 9:27-28.

The author of Hebrews is making an analogy that just as people aren't physically reincarnated to live multiple lives in this world so Christ's physical death and physical resurrection were a uniformly one time event.

There is no actual dichotomy between a person's heart being restarted after it stops and a correct exegesis of Hebrews 9:27.

I see you have reached your own conclusions about what I wrote even though I did not state what you seem to believe I did

It is the same with how you interpret the Bible ... Paul records a man who saw heaven and he does not know if the man was actually in heaven or it was a a vision...now Paul I believe, but the rest I do not..It seems that man may have been Paul himself

Whoever it was, he did NOT die to have this experience

I am not taking a position here--just raising a question for consideration:

What about Lazarus? What about Tabitha/Dorkas , What about Jairus' daughter? What about the son of the widow who housed Elisha? What about the graves that were opened and the believers who arose during the crucifixion?

yes...but Christ raised them from the dead...being raised from the dead means they were dead

Lazarus was in the tomb three days...now that is definately being raised from the dead!

All the people you mention were supernaturally raised either by Christ in the NT or the Spirit of God in the OT

Most of these so called I was dead stories do not even begin to sound like God raised them...20 min on an operating table is not 3 days in a tomb in the hot sun in Israel

I can't pinpoint them right now, but over the years, I have heard and read some pretty bizarre stories about so called trips to heaven...like unconverted people being seen and so on...

There is just so much baloney regarding these things...for that matter, there are even stories of people who say they have gone to hell and come back

I am really skeptical about the whole thing...that is my take on it

I remember reading about the NDE of the Salvation Army founder long ago-- sorry, i got to retrieve his name-- there-- William Booth! Some of you may have... and might want to say more if ur familiar with his vision of heaven.
