Since most of us are single. I'm just curious what everyone does to pass time or to get their mind off being alone.

I usually just play a lot of video games. I also do 3d modeling/digital art. I have considered learning to play piano or bass guitar. What about everyone else?

I play guitar, I do a few group Bible Studies. My work is both social and solitary, by turns, so I have a lot of customers and friends who I see when I'm selling... and I love that aspect, but at the end of my social days, I'm ready for a bit of alone time. :) I'm just not used to having people in my space all the time anymore. I do a lot of reading, I'm a writer (for my own purpose, but not for public consumption at this time).

I'd like to learn the drums, and I am taking golf lessons. I miss camping and hiking, but it's not safe to do on my own (too many wild things, animal and people), and I hope to take that up again if/when someone comes into my life again - my girlfriends are married and with children and don't want to go.

Well, I am currently going to college so a lot of the time I am either concentrating on my homework, cooking, cleaning, running errands, but what I do enjoy doing is being outside looking at the beautiful view that God created for us to enjoy.

Mobile mmo gaming, handheld gaming, emulator gaming, reading articles online, getting ready to study for a c++ certification, think, eat snacks, draw, watch tv, occasionally go the library, and take naps.

I'm usually at home, so I have lots of free time.

I do many things, none of which are to "get my mind off of being alone." That doesn't feel necessary.

Hi Ghost,

I totally understand what you're saying. A long time ago, I used to have to try to find things to keep my mind off the emptiness in the house (and in my heart), but as time went on, I actually came to enjoy being by myself and choosing whatever I wanted to do. There are time, of course, when I wish I had that to share with someone, or that he would share his hobbies with me, but maybe someday!

The things that take up most of my time are work, attempting to exercise (does thinking about it count?!), church, and of course, I read and respond to a lot of threads here on CC. I've always been an early morning person, and one of my favorite things to do on a day off is to get up while the light is just breaking and go for a walk, so I can watch the sun rise.

I also enjoy writing letters, both through email and good old fashioned snail mail, reading, occasionally watching movies, and working on small craft projects. Right now I'm hemming a pair of pants for my mom, trying to put a zipper into a pair of shorts (a continuing adventure) and making some small gifts for a group of friends I plan to meet with this summer.

I also try to spend some time cleaning and keeping things organized, but you wouldn't know that right now if you could see my dining room table! (It's covered with papers, my Bible, books, and craft supplies.)

I run a lot. I currently in training for a half marathon. Also, I just started weightlifting so, I spend time trying to research that. I have a great best friend/sister that I spend so much time with. I have an awesome dog who loves long walks. I read too much fiction. I don't know that I have so much time that I feel the need to keep busy, I just tend to stay that way naturally.

To pass time? Other than relief teaching and volunteering?

Read books, surf the Net, catch up with friends and family, play boardgames, listen to music, watch TV/movies, have deep and meaningful discussions, go to church, cook, do things around the house, read the Bible, pray, prayer meetings, go for walks, eat, visit the library etc.
Right now seems to be a season with a strong focus on intercessory prayer, so at the moment, I don't have time to do all of these things.

I should get back into writing stories and drawing.
