Loving your enemies

God hates the sin but loves the person. If that was not the case, then He would not have died for us while we were yet sinners. Does this mean God loves us when we sin? No. God is not unrighteous. God is Holy. God does not like it when we sin but He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. Repentance is confessing and forsaking sin. In the case of an unbeliever it would be merely admitting your sin (or that you are a sinner) and then accepting the Lord as your Savior. But loving your enemy is something we want to do because it is God moving within in our hearts and minds convicting us to do so. For loving others is a mark of a believer.

When I saw it my very first thought was Jason

Even though we dont alway agree (which is not to say we dont agree on things)
you dont deserve how you are treated by the certain (and in Jesus name) with whom you typically deal with.

But you have been an example to me in Christ of that very example in scripture in your answering kindly and not returning reviling for reviling.

So thanks be to God for your example in that, that is rare actually but it was beautifully demonstrated.

I think you might want to reconsider that statement.

When I was younger, my family was attending a church and my sister was in the nursery and the pastor took her out without my mom's approval and took her to his office. He told police that she had been molested and so we ended up with the police at our house and took both my sister and I to get checked out at a local hospital. There was never an arrest or anything, but years later we found out when the pastor's marriage fell apart that no molestation ever took place. Turned out he had done this to several families and it destroyed many of them resulting in the children growing up in broken homes and turning away from God. I learned to forgive him for trying to destroy our family and I am so thankful that it did the complete opposite to ours because of what happened we are a stronger family that takes care of each other because we could have easily let it destroy our home and each other. Forgiveness is hard to do, but is vital to experience God's forgiveness to us when we stumble.

I realize it was a harsh comment but the disconnect for me is what kind of a friend would encourage a friend to live in a fantasy world? Jason claims to be without sin. That's a hill that he'll lose eventually.

I say you shouldn't HAVE to love your enemies. Why? What if they hurt you sooooo bad that you just have hatred? I know I'm saying this to make myself NOT forgive my enemies. But, I HAVE forgiven them through prayer.

To to whoever said they wish they had my life, ha!!!!! I haven't ever had siblings, parents, relatives say,"I hate you and will never forgive you for the rest of my life." I'm one of the lucky few. Of course, I have said "I hate you" then come back to them a little while later, and forgiven them. There's a HUGE difference. What? When you say "I hate you and will never forgive you" means you hate the person for life. "I hate you" means I hate you for a while, then you come back and talk it out. Get it? Got it? Hopefully good.

And, by enemy, I'm not going with a family member ticked us off for a moment, I'm talking the jerk who mugged you, the idiot who raped someone you loved (because the stats say one in four women have been raped, so, given even if they oversimplified the stats, by your age you know a man or a woman who has been raped), the creep who stalked you or someone you love to the point of terror, or the person who murdered someone you love. Since you, above all men, are prefect, please teach us how you dealt with that perfectly.
