So I know there's a love your enemies thread going on. But I didn't want to post there, or create a new thread, so I thought a thread with a bunch of lovely people would be best. On the subject of loving your enemies... What do you when one of those enemies is someone you live with? It seems like no matter what you do, nothing is enough. And because the house is under her name, it's like she's doing you a favor of living here. I kinda don't want to go into specifics, but if y'all have seen my posts you know I live with my step dad and step sister, and even though I don't pay any bills (because I didn't have a steady job for 11 months), I do have unpaid tuition that I'm paying off on top of 500 dollar student loans. Thankfully my loans are on hold right now, but I'm almost done with my tuition and after that, I'll be paying out of pocket for grad school, which isn't cheap. Kinda got off topic with that, but anyway I've stopped caring what people like her think. At the same time, though, how do you go about living with a person like this? I've made it clear in threads before how much I don't like living here, but don't have a choice.
Our human side wants to lash out and get even and revenge and be mean and everything that Jesus says not to do.
What do you do? How do you handle it? I know when I have had those get even feelings I talk to God about it and I have even argued with Him saying I want to be mean, but instead He usually impresses me to pray for the person I am having an issue with and I am not going to tell you that the person you are praying for will change, although it is a possibility as nothing is impossible for God....
But what you will notice is that you begin to change at least in your attitude toward the person as it is hard to seriously pray for someone and not start getting understanding from God and peace from Him to be able to deal with it.....It has worked for me so I'd say give it a try.
