I've done a few trips on my own. Best by far was driving and camping solo on a road trip from Tennessee to Colorado, then up to Montana, across to Michigan, and back down to Tennessee...

Later, I drove a tractor-trailer for two years and saw 47 of the 48 contiguous US states. I still haven't been to Maine....

Sounds like you've missed the Maine point then.

(Ok Ok groan away. It was bad, but sometimes these things pop in my head and get posted before they can be stopped.)

The joke wasn't near as sad as my reaction when I first read your post...my first thought was to go full grammar nazi and scold you for misspelling 'main'.

I am sure it is beautiful there-- I worked for three years in the Arctic and saw beautiful Northern Lights; but my community was past the 60th parallell so we didn't get the awesome colours-- I'd love to see all this area-- my sister was a missionary for over 20 years and says that Chec. Republic is one of the most beautiful places she has ever been--
Milady.
The Artic is beautiful
And Czech Republic is a truly beautiful gem
Prague is not the only beautiful place that country has

My husband and I did an all inclusive to Cancun last fall with our son, his wife and two of our grandchildren. So best of all worlds - lots of time with the grandkids, but I also took my Kindle and sat on the ocean by myself while the non-alcoholic drinks kept coming. Hubby and I wanted to do different excursions, so I went to see Chicheiza and he went snorkelling. I admit I didn't like being without him. I got stuck in a non seat at the back of the bus, I was the only person by myself. But I loved the pyramids, it was worth it. Cost of our trip was $2500 Canadian for both of us. That was pretty good we thought.

My daughter and her husband just got back from Hawaii. They both loved it, and highly recommend it. They rented a condo, and cooked a lot of their own meals. I think an all inclusive in Hawaii is pretty pricey.

As for the Arctic, I don't recommend it. Flies and mosquitoes! Boring scenery. Our oldest son lives in the Arctic. For Northern Lights, probably Edmonton is just as good. We saw them all the time there. And there is the second biggest mall in the world there. Then there was Saskatchewan in the dead of winter - 40 F or C. That was an entire prairie sky filled with red and green lights. I actually got out of the car and just watched. Something I will remember for the rest of my life.
