When Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he had sent for Paul wanting to hear him concerning the faith in Jesus Christ. It says,
Acts 24:25 As he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, (Heb 6:2) eternal judgment
Felix *trembled*, and answered,
Go thy way for this time;
when I have a convenient season,
I will call for thee.
Felix wasnt getting an ear tickling message obviously he was afraid
I always wondered if in Ezekiel, where it says if you dont warn a man... his blood will I require at thine hand.
And where Paul says...
Acts 20:26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
Acts 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
Relate, seems to as he preached to them to depart from iniquity 2Ti 2:19 knowing full well Jesus said he would say to many in that day to depart from me ye who work inquity Mat 7:23
Preaching Jesus Christ saying,
Acts 3:26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.
And, said, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 2Ti 2:19
Paul warning every man
Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
But when Felix called Paul in to hear about the faith of Christ, he aparently heard a message that made him afraid (it says, Felix trembled) which was his reaction to what he heard. Any message speaking of the judgment to come, or anything that makes anyone uncomfortable or tremble in anyway is typically rejected (or the person) even as Felix sent Paul away (as it wasnt a convenient time for that sort of message aparently).
Paul warns if you live after the flesh you shall die, but if through the Spirit mortify the deeds of the body ye shall live.

There's an old saying about Hell that sums it up perfectly:
"The price for rejecting an infinite sacrifice, is an infinite punishment"
God did not pay your debt, Jesus Christ paid your debt.
Stop preaching and screeching sin consciousness and that God wants people to burn.

If you read this thread, I refute those few small select verses used by those who believe in Eternal Conscious Torment. That is why you are having such a problem right now with this view because it is not true. What others here do not want you to see is that there are a ton of verses that supports the view that they will be destroyed in the Lake of Fire. For why call it the Second Death if it is not related to the first death? (See Revelation 21:8).

As for Hell: Yes, Hell is a real place, but it is not a torture chamber; It is a prison. The richman was not tormented in the flame. The richman was tormented by the heat of the flame that was in front of him (In the gulft fixed between him and Abraham).

Your first deception was assuming we are uncomfortable about the truth. I am not uncomfortable with, because the truth will set you free, but that truth is not always come to Jesus or you burn in hell.
Most of the time the truth is, come to me all that are weary and under heavy burden and I will give you rest.
Even in John 3:16 (which is covered and veiled from people's eyes) says that the wicked will perish and not live on and on and on and on in endless torture in flames. God is just and good and His Judgments are good. Torturing somebody beyond what the crime fits is not just.
Also Jesus said, I come to give you life and that you may have it more abundantly. This is speaking in spiritual terms. It doesn't make sense that the wicked will also have eternal life, too. For Jesus alone possesses immortality (1 Timothy 6:16). That means, Christ has to abide in a person in order to have eternal life. For he that has the Son has life and he that does not have the Son does not have life (1 John 5:12); And I sincerily doubt Christ will be abiding in wicked unbelievers in the Lake of Fire for all eternity.

Jack Chick tracts present a hateful, vengeance filled God. My Parents used to sell them in their bookstore when we were with a legalistic Baptist denomination.
The tracts were right next to 35MM film reels of Estus W. Pirkle's 1974 classic: The Burning Hell
All this nonsense is nothing but fear and scare tactics that induce false salvation and out of fear and not Godly sorrow.
The debate is not if Jesus preached hell, the debate is did Jesus use fear to led people to him and the answer is a sound NO and backed up in scripture.
I remember a few years ago watching an interview with Jack Chick and a person was picked to ask him a question. That brave person,looked at him and said, the Bible says, Perfect love casts out Fear Mr. Chick.
Jack looked as sickly as the demons he draws when they see an Angel, it spooked him badly, he looked suddenly very sick and actually had to run off stage with the help of his entourage.
Jack Chick promotes hate and fear.

Ok seriously please read posts in context. I was responding to someone who said it was offputting to them.
also you cant understand what Christ died for unless you understand the consequence of your sin.
Perfect love does cast out fear. But what fear? Fear of what? Nothing? Where did that fear come from? One first starts out fearing the Lord. For the Scriptures say the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
This is repenting of your sins and accepting Christ because you did not want to perish like John 3:16 says.
In the book of Job it says, "Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding."
Most people do not depart from evil as believers, therefore, they have no real understanding. They read the Bible and they just do not believe most of it (in what it says plainly).
Jesus defines repentance for us in the Bible. He says the Ninevites will rise up in Judgement against this generation because they repented at the preaching of Jonah. If we were to look at Jonah chapter 3, we learn that the Ninevites departed from their evil ways as a part of their repentance.
