It's true! We arrived in South Australia in the late 1830s. We were some of the first European people to settle there. Germanic free settlers for the win!

I am sorry Melita:( I don't like having the hiccups. Sometimes, I hold my breath and in some ways it helps. Although drinking water never helps
Blowing in a bag don't work either.

Never heard of blowing in a bag, but since it won't work I won't give it a try

It doesn't work for hiccups, but it does work for heightened anxiety on a plane (if you fear flying). I know from experience. I almost had a panic attack last time I flew. I felt so sick and fearful and trapped. I breathed into a bag and dry retched and then, after a few minutes settled back to my more normal self.

Essential oils under the nose help too and ginger tablets. Yes, but nothing seems to stop it entirely.

That's how I felt the last time I was engaged.

At least in an airplane you can leap out and have a few moments of peace.

Well, we need to see about getting you a hubby. But then again, you may want to walk
in the rain. If anything, you can dry your clothes, not hubby.

I hate to see a girl running in the rain.

One time I gave a girl a roll of toilet paper,
and told her to unroll it and hold it over her head to keep the rain off.

It's weird, at my church nobody ever asks me to help the new people any more.

To cure hiccups, take a breath and count to ten. Then drink a glass of water for the count of ten. Then count to ten again. Don't take a breath anywhere in the middle.

This is my own special "cure" and lots of people are amazed at how it works. I think it has something to do with the constant pressure on the diaphram, or maybe passing out because of a lack of oxygen!
