Romans 8:28-39
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

What is the focus of Love?

Does God focus on the good about His children or the bad?

Multiple part question..............of necessity.

His children, as in the Church...........when He looks/focuses on them, He sees the blood of Christ, not their sins.

The world, as in those who deny Christ, He surely sees their wicked ways.

As for His FOCUS, I imagine He is able to FOCUS on what He wishes all at once.

Spiritually, yes He sees the rightousness of Christ and His holiness upon us.

But, looking at us at humans, I am sure He focuses on our good for His delight.
And focuses on our bad as something to change, heal, deliver us from, root out, and forgive in His work of sanctifying us.

When my children come in the room and say "look dad" they have the answer in milliseconds as to whether I value and accept them in that moment by the look on my face.

I dont think he focuses on either, he wants good from us, but is hurt by the bad

......yeah..........sigh...........advice............

TURN THAT FROWN UPSIDEDOWN!

Gods focus is the plan He has for the individual believer. He uses the good and the bad to motivate and teach the believer how to fulfill His plan He has for each and every believer......... Because He sees the righteousness of Christ in us.

Gods focus is His Glory. And His plan for every believer is to reveal that glory.

Mark 10:18
And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

Considering " there is none good", we all must fall into that gray area somewhere? I'd say He focuses on both.
He corrects our faults, so we can move towards becoming better.

.......Or l need more coffee because that made absolutely no sense?

The eyes of the Lord are everywhere....beholding the good and the evil.......and he scrutinizes everyone to the inner most core of their being...judging even the thoughts, motives and intents of the heart.

You're a dad. What do you focus on? You bask in the good, but deal with the bad with an eye on how to make it good -- how to make the child behave better. And, then when the child behaves better, you bask in that.

I think God does the same thing only perfectly.

What I read and know in scripture is that God Almighty has always wanted good for His children. Not only that, He has wanted good for every individual. The problem comes from humans rejecting His goodness because they don't understand it. They really don't want to. Then because of His righteous judgments, good turns into curses for righteousness sake, and then God is blamed for issuing out righteous judgment according to His word. Even professing Christians reject His word from the old covenant that is still relevant for today. The carnal mind also rejects, dominating in a false Christian carnality demanding certain parts of God's word to be irrelevant under the New Covenant. God Almighty (YHWH) is unchanging, but not a dictator, enabling a reciprocating love to ensue. God is love. Why make void anything He has endorsed?

I'm not making anything void. Just asked a question.

in the conversion journey, in the beginning, Christ is constantly convicting and pointing out -
getting us to acknowledge ourselves, and what it is that we need to do to 'over-come' in order to
abide in His grace and His approval, as we are becoming new men and new women.

as we grow Spiritually we should become our own worse critic -
and now, it is only necessary for Him to see the 'good' as we
begin to see abundantly, 'our bad' and we cannot help but to
be convicted and 'change our old-ways'.

in one way it is quite complicated, looking at Him through our human eyes,
but, in another way, it is quite lovely and compelling and over-whelming,
to say the least.

In the 'parable of the prodigal son', and 'as it is written', did the FATHER 'focus' on the the good son or the bad son to return, that one day he will turn back once and for all in 'unworthy repentance'?

Have we 'turned back' in such guilt and shame, apart from the 'ceremony of baptism', 'practicing' and 'abiding' in the 'word/teaching' of CHRIST of the 'written New Covenant/Testament', rather than challenging each other, who know 'best', without 'action faith according to them'?
