I keep wondering why professors keep getting people posing as students. If you've got nothing to teach me, I'm not sitting to listen.
Its good that you have that good ability to discern truth but not everyone can understand the WORD when they see it through carnal eyes.:)

So, IMO, many believers will not show evidence of their salvation.
This is true to some extent, but scripture is replete with warnings of virgins without oil, "Lord, Lord" and warnings of apostasy, the road not broad that many find, rather narrow which few find. Wheat and tares, sheep and goats, parables of leaven and mustard seed, Laodicean spitballs. There's no easy believism, head faith demons also confess in the Bible, rather there is a new creature taught, which must be born again, which must be a virgin with oil in the lamp. Let me put it this way. If there were carpools to heaven, I'd not want to ride in a lot of them!

I spent the first half of my life learning funky christianity. I feel like I've spent the next half trying to erase the chalkboards of my mind with the junk I learned. It's just not worth picking up more junk, because then I'll have to mentally erase that too.
My sentiments, also. You learn the faith through scripture and sound teaching, important to seek verification of those things not entirely clear to you. The only way you're going to get good tutelage is from Bible believing, Reformed theologians of unblemished reputations, those you can hear or read and understand they're men of truth. All the rest is garbage, mind clutter of no use that can dilute one's thinking to some degree, cause a loss of clarity and focus. Besides, who needs theological dog food?

Matthew 6:22
The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Acts 17:10-11 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

IMO, its really not about who is saved or not. Salvation is pretty simple. Growing in His grace and knowledge and becoming a disciple is the trick. And being a disciple requires our personal volition to continue on in His plan. Many just sit on their ass after salvation and are forever a babe in Christ.

It is why it is very tough and dangerous for us to be "fruit inspectors" and judge a persons salvation.

Their are soils that seeds are planted in. All the soils but one had no salvation in it. And only one soil had the fruit production.

Mark 4~~4as he was sowing, someseed fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate it up.(unsaved)

5“Other seed fell on the rocky ground where it did not have much soil; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of soil. 6“And after the sun had risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. (saved, but went back into the world system of "self")

7“Other seed fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked it, and it yielded no crop.(Saved, and got caught in the world system of religion(human good/worthless fruit)

8“Other seeds fell into the good soil, and as they grew up and increased, they yielded a crop and produced thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.” (Saved, and continued in Gods plan and produced divine good)

So, IMO, many believers will not show evidence of their salvation.
I think many believers continue to have a rough go of it because they stay stuck in bad habits that are thoroughly practiced and perfected. There are many many people that need a lot of help to stand at first. It's about growth and striving and pushing ahead towards Jesus in spite of our flesh.

Amen to this. And I am fortunate to have one of those pastors who is led by the spirit. These guys that are throwing the baby out with the bath water aren't even in the battle. They sit on the sidelines and carp at those of us who are shining Jesus light into this world and loving people and showing them what grace is so that they can learn to accept it and then show others what grace is.

I for one can smell the cesspool of the religionistas from here.
Those off in a corner somewhere, claiming to be God's special little creatures, with their funky "gospels" and spaghetti exegesis: this is where you look for the exit sign. Can you imagine the ignorance, this notion that, in the past 2,000 years, we're different, and only we have it right?

the old saying goes like this: If you want to know Buddah, look to Buddah............so if someone wants to know CHRIST, look to CHRIST...do not depend on your local courtroom, your grandparents faith, your christening certificate, your volunteer work at the church bazzaar, or your country's pledge of allegiance. Get alone, if you have to...and search GOD's WORD...or next time you are in a hotel/motel, read the Gideon bible. Talk to JESUS as if HE is sitting beside you. You can't do that with Buddah, Confuscious, mohammed, or any other entity. Then, make up your mind as to which place of worship best suits your praise style..do you like it dull and dry, or mediocre, or full of praise songs and inviting of the Holy Spirit.

My avatar picture may be kinda mean and i was unsure whether to choose it when i joined, but the two pictured were integral in creating a barrier between my cousins and the faith.

I tend to think it is just the depression that leads to my feeling of being unsaved. I will take everyone's advice none the less. Thank you.

I used to have that problem more often. Times of depression are feelings, though, and spirituality a matter of awareness. Much bad feeling is just your flesh and the world nagging you, some "good" feelings the world seducing you! This has nothing to do with your salvation. Don't let these things get into your the "God compartment" of your heart of faith. When depressed, I like reading the Psalms, just starting at Psalm 1. It's as if medicine for the worn and weary soul, I suppose because David had some serious things to sorrow over and could rise above everything, in humbly seeking the Lord.

As to Joyce and Joel, I did a thread about Creflo Dollar recently, somebody else a thread on Joyce Meyer. Don't feel bad about your avatar. My preferred vernacular is "hucksters," so I won't likely be on any of their Christmas card lists, either!

This is actually a self defeating statement for any OSAS proponent who claims Positional Righteousness. The way to tell the professors versus the possessors is by their fruit (obviously). For Jesus said we will know false prophets by their fruit; And rightfully so. For 1 John 2:4 says that he that says he knows him and does not keep his commandments is a liar and the truth is not in him. So it is more than just having a profession of faith or some kind of mental acknowledgment that Jesus is your Savior and or even generally living holy and yet also getting away with the occasional unrepentant sin. The person who is saved or born again sells their their life to Christ in all they do. There is no room for sin. If there is sin, they need to confess it and forsake it in order to have mercy. For true believers are supposed to be slaves to righteousness and not slaves to sin.

What is easy believism to you? From my experience that is a derogatory term used by lordship salvation proponents(John MacArthur probably being the top dog in todays world) that disagree in faith alone in Christ alone for salvation. And Johnny is subtle with it, he sounds really good on the surface, but He is a promoter of false salvation doctrine.

We recognize that we are sinners and we believe in our heart(Mind/the right lobe of the brain) that Christ died for our sins and was raised for us........do you believe this is easy believism?

The demons were never once mentioned in the salvation plan. Many people believe in God, the Jews do also. But they don't recognize Jesus Christ as dying for them and their sins.

Easy believism is walking an isle, asking Jesus in our hearts, saying some sinners prayer and many other false beliefs that a lot of churches teach.

I won't do the "Lordship salvation" issue, as it's something relatively new in the world of criticism that is an attack dog against sound teaching that you can't just have a Savior, who is not your Lord. You don't take a big helping of Savior, and skip on the Lord, the Master part. Easy believism is the result of the "believer" not truly repenting, even knowing what repentance is, many conversions false experiences where the old man has never really change his mind to agree with the Holy Spirit in his conviction of sin, agreeing with God where he stands, in mourning over his state. I call it a "get out of hell free" card, some intellectual lip service, a few butterflies in the stomach, maybe, but then business as usual, no new creature that is born again, back to drinks all around at the bar: easy believism. Faith that is not saving faith.

Maybe this is you and maybe it's not....but for what it's worth. I've learned that unprocessed pain leads to anger, anxiety and depression.....or a combination. I asked God to reveal some deeply rooted things in me.... and He was gracious in guiding me to peeling back the onion to some pretty devastating things to a young lad named Sirk.

Yes! Ask for His help, His guidance,

Matthew 7:7-11 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

The condition of receiving for one asking is if you:

(a) Abide in Christ
(b) Abide in His words.

"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you" (John 15:7).

Yet, I like you, and there is a serious majority problem of the Laodicean churches. But I don't agree that throwing the whole church world into the rubbish bin, as if being our own cult, is either right. There are a core remnant of the faithful in churches, as well as Spirit-filled pastors throughout the world.
I have said many times there is a remnant that is enduring the falsehood. Now about those Spirit filled pastors so called. How can they be Spirit filled and continue, for any length of time, in blatant error. I know I did continue so when I was preaching revivals but then God shut me down and had me search and study to find out what the Duce is going on in Christendom. I mean the red flags in my heart were of the Holy Spirit. I heard the Spirit on all the issues I discuss but all these Spirit filled pastors cannot? A little intriguing wouldn't you say?

If a small group is saying everybody else is in blatant error, that they have a lease on the Holy Spirit, isn't this a cult? What if it's not the Holy Spirit leading you to say this about all pastors? Would it further the cause of the Lord that all churches were shutdown, that people no longer hear the gospel they need to, those churches where the gospel is faithfully presented? This concept of an underground church is better? Isn't this what Communists do?

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Spurgeon wrote a daily devotion. He also suffered depression all his life. Depression is real. So is God. God can take us places with or without physiological depression. I suspect he'll help you realize your salvation and sanctification has no bearing to the depression, just as my disabilities have no bearing on mine. Glorification is coming.
