Just got home from church not too long ago.

I have so much on my mind, so many things I want to say, but I know I shouldn't.

I'm happy now. I reloaded my supply of key lime pie slices.

At church today, one of the congregants handed me an envelope. When I opened it, it contained a thank you card (for playing piano and accompanying a song he was singing) with $20 inside! He did not have to do that! The church actually pays me fairly well for my services, and I am not really used to accepting money for playing in church in the first place.

In one of the songs that I played with the praise band, I did the intro....and nobody came in. Usually if we don't start together, the guitarist or I will join the other during or after the intro as the song begins, but he didn't seem with it today. He then played the intro again, and the singers came in at that time. It was very awkward. During the sermon (I don't stay in the sanctuary for all three services, but wander if I have heard or will hear the sermon in the next service) I wandered into the fellowship hall, saw one of the praise band singers, and asked if he knew what had happened. He mumbled something when another man came running back to tell him that his mic was still on. Apparently the congregation heard a little bit of me voicing my frustration over the situation. Though I didn't say anything bad or was blaming anyone, it still wasn't something that should have been fed into the sound system.

On the way home, because of the money given me, I stopped by the farmers market and went a little crazy: strawberries and nectarines for the kid, probiotic sauerkraut from one of my favorite local companies called "The Cultured Kitchen," and some lamb shanks. I had fun talking to the fishmonger and will probably buy some halibut next week.

Home now, enjoying the a/c, and feeling blessed!

About the $20 - very sweet! About the mic still being on... oh nooooo. That's like my worst nightmare. I'm glad nothing too terrible was said! That is kind of weird about everyone waiting to start in though. What DID happen?

I have never heard of probiotic sauerkraut, but this place you speak of did make me feel hunger. ;)

The singers are really timid on their entrances and when the guitarist didn't come in, they chickened out. I think he may have not come in because he wanted to start the song and was mad that I started without him. Passive-aggressive schtuff.

Sounds like the singers need to learn some confidence. They gotta learn to go with the flow of things, and learn the show goes on regardless of who does or doesn't start their part. Or at least... that's what I've learned in the years of playing with bands and worship teams. I could be completely wrong.

...or you could be completely correct!

Thanks for the compliments :eek: and I understand about the singers being timid. We have a couple of those. I, on the other hand, will sing out loudly... and sometimes, im not in the right part of the song. lol that awkward moment when you think they're gonna repeat chorus but then they go into instrumental, and then you kinda fade out lol

Made one pot Baked Ziti. With maybe an additional pot used. (Didn't have a 12 inch pot that could be baked. Only a ten inch one. Those two inches really make a huge difference.) But other than that, and the fact that the cheese burnt to a crispy black, (Cat, Lynx, please don't kill me,) it ended up turning out really well. So note to self, put cheese on much later then what recipe states to do, and then get a bigger, deeper skillet.

For those who don't like washing, or who have a harder time cooking, this would really be an easy one to do. Especially if you use a bigger pot to brown the meat and cook/bake the rest of the ingredients. And oh, have a lid to make sure the tomato solution doesn't splash out all over the stove to create a bigger mess.

This is the recipe for it:

One Pot Baked Ziti
[h=3]INGREDIENTS[/h]
  • 1 lb hot Italian sausage, removed from casings
  • 1 (14.5-oz) can fire roasted diced tomatoes with garlic
  • 1 (8-oz) can tomato sauce
  • ½ (6-oz) can tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp dried Italian seasoning
  • 16 oz whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 4 oz fresh grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 lb dried pasta (ziti or penne are best)
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 (8-oz) package shredded Italian cheese blend
  • basil, for garnish
[h=3]DIRECTIONS[/h]
  • In a large (12-inch) skillet over high heat, brown sausage, about 10 minutes. Add tomatoes, sauce, paste, Italian seasoning, dried pasta, and water. Stir to combine, cover and bring to a boil. Boil until pasta is al dente (has a little bite to it).
  • Meanwhile; combine ricotta, parmesan cheese, salt and pepper in a medium bowl. Stir until well incorporated.
  • Stir ricotta mixture into pasta. Preheat oven to broil. Top skillet with shredded cheese and place in oven. Broil until cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Keep a close eye on it or you will have crispy cheese pretty quick.
  • Garnish with basil. Serve and enjoy!
[h=3]KITCHEN COUNTER[/h]Serves 8.

I have so much on my mind, so many things I want to say, but I know I shouldn't.
Isn't that what the internet is for, especially this thread?

On a more serious note, when you feel like you shouldn't, take some time to ask yourself who or what it is that's making the rules about what you should or shouldn't be doing. And I have been known to type out letters to people I'm mad at on my computer without any intent of sending said letters, but it helps me feel like I've stated my case and gotten it out anyway.

Making letters (without the intent of sending them) sounds like a good idea to me. :) I'll have to do that.

I've been on a flavored lemonade kick here lately. Not the artificially flavored lemonade, the kind made with real fruits. So far I've had blackberry lemonade, strawberry lemonade, and raspberry lemonade. I'm thinking of trying to make watermelon lemonade, since I have a whole watermelon in my kitchen right now...has anyone tried that before? If so what did they think?

The good thing about today is, I've been home alone since 3 pm, and it's been low stress, because my dog and my kitty have been behaving themselves. I've been able to play guitar, do stuff like that...

The bad part about today is...

I've been home alone since 3 pm. I'M SO BORED. Still no license yet, so...still stuck at home. Even if I had one, right now, it wouldn't matter, because I wouldn't have a car to drive...
