My sister has Alzheimer's. It started shortly after she got a Chromium implant in her arm which always produced what I believe was a low grade infection, due to the constant warmth in the area. I have since read that some people are allergic to Chromium and also that chronic infections can be a catalyst for Alzheimer's. We are going to have the piece removed after having been in her since 2007 because it is getting loose in the bone (a result of the allergic reaction) and I suspect that it is suppressing my efforts to treat her disease. I am giving her Turmeric with pepper as the pepper makes it 2,000 times more absorbable(new word?), but I had been giving her Curcumin before I found out that the whole spice is better. I think that it slowed down the progression of the disease, but has not stopped it. Coconut oil at 7 Tbl spoons a day is supposed to work on some and if you want to try it don't start at that dose as diarrhea will result, but it didn't help sis. When the piece comes out of her arm I will try a couple of other remedies that some alternative doctors say help their patients. One is 6,000 mg of L-Arguinine and 1,000mg of L-Citruline per day in divided doses. Both of these supplements can be the L- or non L- type. The other one didn't have any dosages listed, but consisted of DHA which is a part of the Omega-3 fish oil family of ingredients and vitamin D-3. I know that the optimal dose of vitamin D-3 is 5,000 mg and some people like to take 10,000 so maybe the 10,000 dose is the one to use. As far as the DHA I don't know. I take a "Super DHA 500" with 500 mg of DHA every day so I am thinking that I could double or triple the dose for her. I won't find out anything for a few weeks though as the surgeon will not be able to even check her out until next week.

Sadly there is no cure for Alzheimer's.. It's a progressive disease which eats away at the brain. My aunt died of it last year.

I am sorry about your aunt Lady Blue. There is a cure, but it may not be a worldly cure. If anything works I will let everyone know. Love to all.

your sister is very blessed to have you - would to God that families would dedicate themselves to taking
care and responsibility for their loved ones in today's society instead of just a great majority throwing them
away and putting them into the care of strangers.

our Lord has made so many natural remedies that the majority can afford and there are so many options
available to us if we would only do the research.

(and he laid a plaster of figs upon the boil and it was healed).

the turmeric and pepper do work wonders, but for a sensitive stomach they can be very irritating so the
amount is critical per individual case.
I can only take a very small amount of this remedy but my husband has no problem taking large amounts -
we have found these two ingredients very beneficial for us both along with our other amazing
God created tonics and remedies for natural healing and maintaining good health.

My sister has Alzheimer's.
A few things I have learnt about Alzheimer's. My mother who is 89 over the last few years has had some falls.
She started loosing her memory in part, with some good and bad days. We knew it might be some form of brain damage so wanted her looked at. It turns out there is neither a chemical, biological or scan diagnosis. It comes down to a test of memory, co-ordination, simple tasks which normally are easy to perform, but people with significant loss of function becomes a challenge.

For some patients they have found there is damage to the system that helps record and retrieve memory, which fails over time. A drug was proscribed which slows the breakdown of of an enzyme which triggers the memory storage functions.

To quote the doctor, it could be because of Alzheimer's or due to bad circulation in the brain. Over the last few months her memory has improved with the drug so this suggests this is the problem in her case.

This all leads me to realise the description Alzheimers is very generic for particular loss of function, but the cause or even diagnosis is impossible to confirm. This leads me to the conclusion that people maybe suffering from different things when this term is put on a patient.

I personally would want the implant removed, to see if anything improved and replaced with another material that did not cause an immune response. I know how difficult this road is, and how draining, so I feel for you in this situation.

From my own experiences of dealing with my Aunt, there are many
physical things which can excerbate problems

Water infections are the main one, they can affect people really bad

Certain antibiotics can cause problems - she had a chest infection last year and
within 2 days she started to have hallucinations. I rang the doctor who said to
stop giving her them and the hallucinations cleared up.

I have since looked on line at the drugs most likely to cause confusion and
hallucinations and the list is extensive - antibiotics are at the top.

Changes in routine and environment can cause problems

Another key problem is dehydration, many elderly people don't drink enough
for fear of having an accident.

My Aunt was also admitted to hospital with delirium earlier this year
for 6 days. At first the staff were treating it as if she was in the late
stages of dementia. When I explained she was not normally this bad and
it was completely out of character, they started to treat her as as a sick
person instead of a mentally ill person and the confusion cleared up.

I recently found the link below to be a great help, if confirmed much of
what I have discovered while looking after my Aunt. Dementia is a genuine
ailment and Alzheimer's is the worse as it destroys the brain cells which eventually
causes physical as well as mental problems. Care needs to be taken though to
ensure the correct diagnoses is given.

Blue I'm really sorry you went through that, it's so awful on relatives and the person.

I have to admit that I may have been the catalyst for my sister's disease. I had been asking God to help me with my temper, which flares quickly and it used to be that it flared quite easily. Unfortunately my sister's disease caused me to yell at her often and forced me to tone down my anger. I am still working on it, but I thank God that my sister can't remember my tirades. She will have to go through a bunch of tests before the orthopedic surgeon does anything, but he sees no alternative to removing the offending Chromium humorous head, as they called it, and replace it. Thank you Lord! I don't know how she will handle the hospital though, if she will have to stay in one. I don't trust them too much.

it's very disturbing, but not surprising that our loved ones have become victims of todays
PHARMIKIA'.

so many of the 'WARNINGS' given on the TV say that the medicines MAY result in "DEMENTIA"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
among a vast multitude of other 'side-effects'!

(the LAWYERS are having a 'field-day', just think how much MONEY is involved, because the companies
KNOW, it is 'just the COST of doing business'.

REV.18:23.
And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom
and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men
of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

sorceries is rendered 'pharmikia' in Strong's Concordance - something to PONDER.

I give my husband Tom zinc, it really seems to help. I keep him physically active. Keeping to a schedule really helps, I got some frankincense oil (I think Vi recommende ) and the scent seems to make him more alert. He got the diagnosis 5 years ago.

Tom still mows the grass and takes out the garbage but sometimes get a little vague as the day goes on and is easily irritated.

I thank God that this is progressing so much more slowly than projected.

dear psalm6819,

may the Lord keep you and yours and bless you abundantly for the care
that you are so lovingly providing.
we are often amazed when our Father shows us just how wonderfully He
has made us and how capable we can be when time and chance plow their way
into our lives.
being ready in the way that our Father requires of us on any given day is such a challenge,
but one that He prepares us for when we turn to Him for our needs and answers and help -
just trusting and knowing for sure that He is in control of our lives is un-comparable
at any stage or level and we know that He will always give us the ways, means, confidence
to handle any situation that the morrow may present.

My MIL has Alzheimer's and got suddenly much worse last year when she fell and hit her head. She was removed from her home, and is now in long term care. She still remembers us when we visit, but sometimes not the relationship. (She thinks my husband is her "brother")

In her case, it is inherited. Her father died of it, and her brother two years ago. She had a slow but steady progress until her fall. Her sister ran a health food store, and tried everything possible thing on her father and it made no difference. All have been gardeners, and my MIL also had organic fruit in her yard which she used in multiple ways through the year. So they all ate well, and lived in the country away from contaminents.

Alzheimer's in not curable, as I have also worked in long term care and watch people go rapidly/slowly downhill from this disease. I will say one thing though, about my MIL, right now she is happier than I have ever seen her. She has friends, gets her meals made and has no cares in life, except that she has no money, no matter how many times we reassure her she has enough to pay for her bed for 20 years and then leave money to her children.

Being raised in the depression is the cause of the money issue. The rest is just fun and games. She is a Christian, but many lose their ability to think cognitively about abstract concepts like God, but I think God knows the heart, even if the mind forgets.

CrustyOne, you did not cause your sister's Alzheimer's with your yelling. My dad yelled at my mom and everyone else all the time. She is still going strong 4 years after he passed away at age 83 from amyloidosis attacking his heart. She still remembers things quite clearly.

Try and think "this is genetic" and you will be a lot better. And remember, it could be random chance that she got Alzheimer's after the implant. Coincidences can happen.

How about a good old fashioned dose of the healing power of the Holy SPIRIT? You don't need to buy HIM in a bottle or measure HIM out in a tablespoon. What happens in between surgeon appointments? Are there elders or ministers or holy spirit filled people that would take the time to pray, fast, and lay hands on your sister as a way of saying "GOD loves you and can heal you!" I find that the faith of a few close friends has healing powers. GOD also inhabits the praises of HIS people..and where GOD is..there is also healing and deliverances...they come with the turf as an extra benefit. Since GOD can cast out demons..HE can surely take care of an alzheimer patient. Has HE been allowed to be part of this healing process, along with the coconut oil? I offer this idea as an alternative.

Psalm6819, you might try giving your husband Turmeric capsules with pepper in them. I have read that the Curcumin in it helps to slow the formation of the amaloyd plaques in the brain and the pepper makes the spice about 2000 times more absorbable. I can't say for sure if it is working for my sister as I don't know how fast she would be progressing without it. Thanks for the zinc tip. To Angela53510, if you are concerned that I am upset about the doctor implanting the Chromium piece, you need not be. As far as you dad yelling at your mom, I asked for help with my anger and he may not have. In my case it worked. I am much more in control now. Thanks to all for moral support and anything that might help.

Something else that will give them comfort are childhood pictures. I pull out the old ones because those memories aeem to be more accessible , stimulate memory and make him happy.

We watch wheel of fortune and Jeopardy, Tom has always loved word games but can't play scrabble or do crosswords anymore.

I'll try the turmeric for sure, I'd rather try natural remedies because the namenda didn't seem effective and aricept is just a stimulant that was added cuz namenda was ineffective.

Thanks for the input.

For everyone getting a little older and had dental work at a younger age...
Those silver teeth or filings you have, do contain a ton of Mercury... There has been peer reviewed conclusive data that Mercury laced Teeth are a MAJOR cause of Alzheimer's...
In fact when you research "mad hatters disease" you will find the reports to be identical to what we are fighting with Alzheimer's.

Peer Reviewed Study on Mercury leading to AD
Does inorganic mercury play a role in Alzheimer's disease? A systematic review and an integrated molecular mechanism. - PubMed - NCBI

FDA saying Mercury is the leading cause for AD, and the overwhelming majority of people get AD from Mercury poisoning.
http://www.fda.gov/ohrms/dockets/dailys/02/Sep02/091602/80027dd5.pdf

FDA saying silver teeth contain 50% Mercury. Which leaks out throughout the patients entire life. The Mercury vaporizes and is inhaled and sent directly to the brain.
About Dental Amalgam Fillings

Notice, these are trusted websites... Not some conspiracy loony bin stuff.

PLEASE! Get your teeth fixed :(

Mad Haters Disease, please compare to Mercury, and the above articles about mercury in your teeth... This is alarming.

Just read information on "brain factor-7 which may be of help for Alzheimer's. I won't be trying it yet as I still haven't been able to get the operation to replace sis's Chomium implant yet. I've been at it since June. Just one thing after another. God seems to be letting Satan have a little fun with us.
