Does anyone remember this secular song by the Byrds? They quote from the book of Ecclesiastes in their lyrics.

"Turn! Turn! Turn!"

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time to build up, a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones
A time to gather stones together

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace
A time to refrain from embracing

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late!

I'm really only making this thread because I am bored. That being said.... Do you all listen to secular music as well as Christian? If so, what bands do you like? If not, is there a specific reason you don't listen to secular music?

Hm.... This may start a debate... Hopefully not.
I listen to a lot of fuzz rock like Dead Meadow and a lot of artsy stuff like MGMT and AWOLNATION.

I muchly enjoy classical and a handful of secular songs. I like dubstep and edm in general but without nasty lyrics orr too much bass.

What does it actually matter to you personally what type of music anyone listens to? Will it change YOU? Will you condemn, exalt, praise, or point fingers to those who's preferences are different than yours? Will it improve your walk with JESUS or what? What is your goal in knowing this? Will you print out all answers for future references? If you answer " Uh, I was just curious" well then....so are we as to why you asked.

Why are you ALWAYS so rude and nasty in most of your responses on the threads here? Do you thrive on being obnoxious? Most of us probably don't care why the OP asked what type of music we listen to. Nor are some of us curious to know. It's YOU who's being nosy here.. Maybe the OP is just looking to expand his musical repertoire. :) If we can recommend good praise music to him, then YES, it probably will better their walk with Jesus. I'm pretty sure the OP doesn't have a "goal" in mind, but you act like he has an evil agenda or something, for simply asking what we listen to. :/

It doesn't matter to me. As I said in the OP... I was bored. So I thought I'd make a thread that I had a reason to read.
Simple as that. :)

Indeed. I figured why not make a thread that I had reason to read. Perhaps people want to post some songs they like and I can check them out.

I have some Ray Stevens in my collection. Also some Beethoven, Vivaldi, Mozart...

But no, I don't listen to most secular music. It's not for any deep theological reason though. There's just so much good christian music! I don't have time for secular music because I prefer christian music and there's way too much of it for me to ever reach an end in listening to it.

But then I like all kinds of different styles in christian music, so that broadens my music pool a lot. People who only like two or three styles probably have a much smaller christian selection so I can see where they would default to secular music for something to listen to.

pwrnJC is always rude in many of his posts.. Put him on ignore.. I like the old music from the 50's-80's.. I also like the stupid rap songs from the 1980's, before they started putting the F and N words into rap songs..
