I think Paul understood the word and so did the men who stood before God and fell on their faces as dead men....Paul said it is a FEARFUL thing to fall into the hands of the LIVING GOD.....and that word does not mean reverence or awe......it means to FEAR......!
 
James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

revelation 15:4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.
 
Psalm 119:120 My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.

Jeremiah 5:21 'Now hear this, O foolish and senseless people, Who have eyes but do not see; Who have ears but do not hear.

Jeremiah 5:22 'Do you not fear Me?' declares the LORD. 'Do you not tremble in My presence? For I have placed the sand as a boundary for the sea, An eternal decree, so it cannot cross over it. Though the waves toss, yet they cannot prevail; Though they roar, yet they cannot cross over it.

Sorry folks I had to go to work so I could not respond lol. I find this scripture interesting- 1 John 4:18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
Did I not say that my fear of God was replaced by love? I didn't realize I was quoting scripture when I said that lol

Yes this is what I said earlier by we overcome that fear by love, for love does no wrong to self or others.
So if we are walking in love we have no need to fear judgment because love upholds and does not transgress !!!
 
You know I have always wanted to go before God's throne, I wondered how I would react. Would I kneel before him like a knight with such respect and faithfulness? Would I simply by instinct run up to him with tears of love and jump in his lap and squeeze him endearingly? I also considered one that I would very much enjoy. I can see myself kneeling before him trembling so severely from the force of his power might glory and majesty yet I see in my eyes tears but not from sadness but rather such love and amazement of who he is.

Now this trembling I very much want

Yes I have had that thought many of times to on how I will react when I am finally standing before the Lord.
Most of the time I come down to the point that I would probably fall down to my knees and praise Him for helping me through this trying life.....

Yes this is true which is why the bible says those who change the gospel of Christ to allow lewdness are false teachers who are set for condemnation. Because sin has no place in love !!!

proud and imprudent act's and thought's

We should not leave this wisdom behind, because it is the disease of today's. The believer's do not fear God anymore, and the marks's are clear also in this forum, what it has causes; all kind of childish and proud behavior, without true knowledge and reverence of God.

You all should learn from this wisdom, and keep it, so you may find in a way of life, because the way without fear for God, is a way of flesh, because the flesh has not submit it self to God.

So the question what you all should though, is do you walk according to the flesh, or according to the Spirit?

If you behavior is proud and ignoble, then it can't be form God, but is form this world.
 
A deep respect for God is what we need, not fear. Following Him and His word, teaching it in reverence of Him. I do not think it is to be AFRAID OR SCARED of God, it is about loving Him and respecting him. If God is love, and you love and respect God, then there is no fear in that love for Him. The more you move into reverence for Him, the less fear you will have over all the deceptions and irreverence for God there is. If I feared Him, why would I try to obey him more than if I revered Him, my respect is much higher and I want to follow Him, obey His Words.

My thoughts here to be put out, not to put down anyone btw.

Psalm 36

There is No Fear of God Before his Eyes

1{To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD.} The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.

2For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.

3The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.
 
Ecclesiastes 3:14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
 
My opinion is, the spirit of the fear of God is a protector it help us to be always alut so not to sin most of our time. And if you feel to have the spirit of fear of God, that is God always is with you.

Jesus continues to tell us not to be afraid. Those of you who are telling us the opposite, I have a question for you:

WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU AFRAID OF?

Might it be that you think FEAR is the only thing that will cause you to obey Him?

Jesus said He did away with that fear and that He has made us one with Him. Perfect love casts out fear, because fear has to do with punishment and torment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

So if you are afraid of the Lord, you are afraid that the grace of Jesus Christ isn't perfect enough to keep you in His love.

Nevertheless, His grace IS sufficient. Even if you doubt Him, He still remains faithful. He can't change who He is. Jesus is LOVE, and the Shepherd of Love casts out fear.

So please explain to us why you insist on telling people to disregard what Jesus says and to be in dreaded fear of Him.

You had a very good point at first, fredjames.

But if you don't understand what Willie-T has just posted you might need to look at yourself as the 'counterfeit' and 'imposter'.

Fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom. The beginning.

To continue on in Wisdom and Knowledge we need Jesus Christ. In whom is no fear or condemnation.


This is a tough one to talk to people about. I think the biggest thing to keep in mind is the growth of the Christian when talking about the fear of God. Our 'natural' reaction to God is fear because of our sin. The Lord Jesus Christ teaches us not to fear, by faith, telling us that He is for us and not against us.

O ye of little faith. I try to have more faith. But I get scared... lol I shouldn't laugh but sometimes things that are true and obvious are funny.
