We are all sinners. How we decide to deal with sin after accepting Jesus in our hearts is key, as life leads us into a bumpy road full of distractions from our main focus: being hand in hand with Our Lord at all times. As we grow in the spirit we may make bad choices, we may have a flat tire along that bumpy road, some may face a splattered bug on their windshields, making spiritual vision more difficult, others may even take a "detour" of sorts but eventually, we should all come to a point in our lives when sin has to be accepted, confronted and finally defeated by Jesus . The alternative is not good. If we don't repent from our sins and stay away from them for good, then we're talking about cheating, and you simply don't do that on Him.

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

And imagine..under the law he should have been put to death, yet an innocent child paid the price and took David's place of death.....seems like a real good picture of Jesus as it was a SON of DAVID that died in his place!

'Jesus begins His public ministry'

MATTHEW 4:16-17.
The people which sat in darkness saw Great Light; and to them which sat
in the region and shadow of death, Light is sprung up.

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.

I'm confused. Your title says repent daily and yet here you say stop sinning.
If we stop sinning there is nothing to repent daily for. Which is it? :)

Jesus accepted, confronted, and defeated the sins of the whole world on the cross.

"It is finished." Remember?

At the moment of salvation, when we repent by asking forgiveness for our sins, and placing our faith in Christ alone, God forgives every sin - past, present, and future. There is no need to continually ask forgiveness for what is completely forgiven.

And as far as your sinless perfectionism; how's that working out for you? Are you at some miraculous point where you never commit a sin?

This is going to sound like a silly question but what does 'daily repentance' mean exactly? Is it repenting from sin that you know you have done or is it like just saying God, I repent from sin?
I ask for forgiveness when I know (conscious) i've sinned, and that's not exactly daily. It's not a blanket prayer is it?

How about just praying what Jesus taught: "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive others who trespass against us....."

The Lord's prayer just about covers everything each day, including our sins.

I find when I enter His presence in prayer His light reveals 'gunk' I hadn't seen on my own.

There is that daily foot cleansing as we walk through the dirt of this world...

John 13:8-10 (KJV)
8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.

Jesus and Paul said both, maybe ask them. The injunction to stop sinning brings with it the need for daily repentance as we sin daily. Not repentance for salvation but a clean conscience.

Jesus washed the disciples feet because they needed only to have that part cleaned in their daily walk. The rest was clean by grace through the blood. Peter when he asked to be washed all over was told by Jesus he did not understand what was going on and that is so much like many today.

One thing we might notice in The Disciple's Prayer is that we are not asking for forgiveness, per se. Instead, we are asking God to look at the way we treat other people, (forgive them) and to make His already-in-effect forgiveness only as true and powerful as our own forgiveness is towards others.

That's kind of an "Oops" moment, when you think about it.

I'm getting old, and my memory never has been perfect. Refresh my memory on the repent daily quote, will ya?

Do you sin daily? If so, do you desire to turn and seek forgiveness or wallow in it?
I did say our daily sin brings with it our daily need for forgiveness.

1 John 1:8-10 (KJV)
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

1JOHN 1:9.10.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and the Word is not in us.

PROVERBS 28:13.
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

PS.32:5.6.
I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said,
I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

For this shall every one that is godly pray unto Thee in a time when You may be found:
surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come near unto Him.

Ps.33:4.
For the Word of the Lord is right, and all His works are done in Truth.

No, I don't sin daily. Why would I want to be in willful disobedience to Christ?
Good deal, otherwise, you didn't come up with a scripture so I know I haven't forgotten everything.:)
