I see that people are in an uproar because some are offended by the confederate flag and rightly so especially with the type of negative people and actions that have attached themselves to it.

Where is the uproar when the KKK and the ilk misuse or misrepresent what some call the true meaning of the confederate flag? Where are all the peaceful, wholesome southerners then?

That's because they are in denial. They know what the flag represents, they just won't admit it

The KKK is planning a pro-confederate flag rally in south carolina. I don't think that is helping the confederate flag cause.

I reckon they can rally all they want to. Their flag has been taken down. Sorry KKK

The Ku Klux Klan plans to rally in July in response to calls to remove the Confederate flag from South Carolina statehouse grounds.
The white supremacist group, which claims association with the KKK, is based out of Pelham, N.C., according to the group's website. "Our government is trying to erase white culture and our heritage right out of the pages of history books," the message said.

I wonder if any of the good southern folk will meet them there to tell them to stop misrepresenting the confederatw flag.

reason for edit: to add the source

Well the problem is they aren't misrepresenting the confederate flag. The confederate flag stands for the Confederate regime, which came to exist and was destroyed by God because of seditious betrayl, unjust slavery, and racism. So it is actually quite appropriate a terrorist group of wizards like the KKK would use it.

People talking about don't tread on me and the south will rise again. The idiocy of this astounds me.

The issue isn't what the flag represents. The issue is what the banning of the flag represents...hysteria and creeping suppression of our freedoms.

The flag has not been banned. It is just been removed from government buildings. I see them flying everywhere here in my town

No taking down the traitor flag, especially the one that was in South Carolina, represented making an atonement to God and your neighbor. It was actually one of the rare good things done in America for a long time.

Well, all dont see it as a "traitor" flag ...to some it represents their state and community ...and we dont look to a bunch of liberals to tell us when and how to serve God or our fellow man...a flag has nothing to do with that.

Why does a flag bother you?

If only I could get my hands on one. Smuggling it into the Left Coast may be next to impossible :)

Holding on to an obsolete and irrelevant flag just makes southerners look stupid.

I'm not a southerner, I'm from Michigan but a Confederate flag here in Ca. would make a statement about freedom. The flag has morphed into a symbol of freedom...no longer slavery, and the more the left attempts to suppress the flag the more that symbol will become apparant.

Is it already on this thread?--------------the fact that the offensive symbol wasn't part of South Carolina's flag------until black plaintiffs won Brown vs Board of Education 1954ish (a Kansas case I believe), and then the heroic white racist legislators of South Carolina put it on their flag. Unbeleeeevable

The same mentality would ban the Cross as a horrid symbol of persecution, torture, and suffering via the Crusades and Inquisition.

That was then but this is now. The flag has taken on a new meaning altogether...or should we now ban the cross?

Doesn't matter how they see it, you can't change history. It will always be the flag of traitors for that is why it was even created and lifted up.
