I'm really only making this thread because I am bored. That being said.... Do you all listen to secular music as well as Christian? If so, what bands do you like? If not, is there a specific reason you don't listen to secular music?

Hm.... This may start a debate... Hopefully not.
I don't listen to Christian music anymore, this is because it's simply not raw enough for my emotional needs.

I love some Christian music if the music touches my soul and the words move me. But I understand where you're coming from. Much of the Christian music today in my opinion is just plain lame. The words are trite, no heart-felt music, just so canned and lifeless. Many of these modern "worship & praise" songs all sound alike. It's gross!

I actually don't like to label music "Christian" or "Secular". To me, THAT'S lame. Music is music. I can focus on Father God listening to any music I like.

When I do listen to music I listen to both. Although I prefer not to listen to anything I find offensive in secular style music. I do not think just because a music is labeled Christian that I need to like it. Sometimes I don't agree with Christian music doctrinally.

Yeah, I don't like most Christian music. The only Christian bands I like are in Christian Metal and I don't know very many great Christian Metal bands.

I listen to both secular and Christian music however I know more christian music than secular haha. For christian music, I listen to bands like Relient k, Shane & Shane, Flyleaf, Thrice, RED, Jimmy Needham, and a couple Christian metal/deathcore bands like Underoath, For Today, August Burns Red, Oh sleeper. There are lots of great Christian bands, metal especially and I think many people don't realize they're Christian at first but if you search up the lyrics th truth is all there :p. Some awesome Christian hip hop artists include Lecrae, Trip Lee, and Andy Mineo.

As for secular, I listen to mostly indie pop and alternative metal, metal, etc.

sometimes i hear a secular song - usually a love song - and because of my relationship with God i interpret it differently than the world does, and it's meaningful to me in a way that's peculiar to the faith.

here's an example -- which is pretty old, but i haven't actively listened to secular music for decades, so ..

here's the lyrics -- just think about your relationship to Christ, and if this applies?

I know a place where I can go when I'm alone
Into your arms,
oh into your arms I can go

I know a place that's safe and warm from the crowd
Into your arms,
oh into your arms I can go

And if I should fall
I know I won't be alone
Be alone anymore

hey haven't heard that song in awhile great tune indeed, i know what you mean interpreting music differently than the world :)I've been listening to music as far back as I can remember it's in my heart it drives me, I've forgotten more than I can remember :( I still love the oldies :)
