I know and have friends who pastor churches in almost 20 states and 8 different countries and they all say the same thing. Christianity has been watered down and salvation messaged to death and all that the people expect to hear is messages on love....God forbid anybody mention judgment, death, hell or the destruction of the world......the truth of the matter is simple....it will only be GOOD for the saved and then not all as many will stand naked and shamed before the Lord because they remained in ignorance with their heads in the sand instead of warning those around them of what is coming....The whole council of God is to be proclaimed not just love and salvation...God is a God of judgment and for the majority it is going to be a very bad day......LOVE and TRUTH go hand in hand and one does God an injustice when they refuse to proclaim the BAD with the GOOD......

The word gospel and the Greek word it comes from means and carries the idea of the (correct message) and is not necessarily the GOOD NEWS as it too has been watered down by mainstream Christianity....The following things will happen with the return of Christ and ALL of these things make up the GOSPEL...not just the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus...

1. Humanity imploding and destroying itself en masse including this so called godly country
2. WW3 and the results of that war which kills one quarter of the earth's population
3. Disease, famine on a scale that will make Ethiopia and Rwanda look like a picnic and a paper cut
4. The murder en masse of all CHRISTIANS caught by the loss of their heads for refusing the mark
5. Men tormented and begging for death but not being found
6. The ruination of the water
7. Heart attacks en masse for fear of what is coming on the planet
etc.

ALL before the SON of GOD BURNS the planet in the fire of his WRATH and JEALOUSY

GOD INSPIRED HIS MEN to write of these things and has WARNED US and THEM and ALL of these things and it does GOD an INJUSTICE to SWEEP these things UNDER the RUG because they are not popular and or the favorite SUNDAY morning sermon and FOR SURE lets keep hush hush on these issues because they are HARD to BEAR and might SCARE someone.....

PITIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2nd Peter chapter 3 is a good summation!

I agree with what you said here as when instructing others in the word all must be given, not just the love and salvation part that has been watered down.

The warnings in the bible however are not just for the end times, as Jesus and Paul both warned professing believers constantly of things then and now before that time comes to pass. Apostle Paul in his epistles gave his warnings mainly to those who called themselves believers and told them what their outcome would be if the continued down the path they are on.

I agree with everything you wrote...the only thing I disagree with you on is two things bro....

1. You can lose salvation
2. That you have to maintain salvation by working

That has been the only two bones of contention that I have with what you believe Kenneth

I could add much here, but I would prefer to start by asking you a question, based on something you just wrote.

It seems as though you do not believe in the 1000 year reign on earth described in Revelation 20, which would mean the earth does not get burnt up until at least the end of the millennium.

Do I misread you?

Thanks for asking and not assuming which is the norm around here.....

1. I do believe in the 1000 year reign and the following use of fire....

a. Jesus purifies the earth by the fire of his wrath<--whereas the heavens being on fire and the elements melting with fervent heat 2nd Peter 3
b. Jesus rules and reigns a 1000 years
c. The heaven and the earth flee from the presence and face of God as no more place is found for them and he (Jesus as God) makes a new heaven and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness......

and what I wrote was a very brief summation just to make the point I wanted to make!

Still unclear to me. Do you believe the earth we are on now, exists during the millennium, or not?

I will also repeat myself again to you that I do not instruct on working to maintain salvation as your #2 says.

What I instruct on is how the bible shows multiple times one has to continue in the faith to receive salvation, as it is about keeping the faith not works in the faith to maintain. As Apostle Paul more than once shows what the outcome is for those who do not continue in the faith is and it is not eternal life.

Yes.....the new heaven and the new earth do not come till after the 1000 year reign as evidenced by Isaiah and the last couple chapters of Revelation IMV....

And my stance has not changed...faith into Christ is a once for all act in my view......there are just as many scriptures in context that teaches this....the verb tenses teach this....so...until the Lord comes this will be our impass bro....

I don't know that too many people like the everlasting gospel of Revelation:

Revelation chapter 14 verses 6 and 7

And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

Amen to that...it is a crying shame the (gospel) has been reduced to just the death, burial and resurrection when there are numerous places like the one you posted that makes it clear the gospel is more than the statement first noted in this post.

Appreciate the post!

I guess it will because Apostle Paul says multiple times by faith we;

1) Hope for salvation

2) Seek for salvation

Seems to me the norm in most the churches is that people want to be entertained. And I think it is the falt of the churches and the people that run them.

Yeah, let's hear it from one of the Pro's...

above all knowing this, that in the last days scoffers will come with scoffing, following according to their own desires and saying, "Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things have continued just as they have been from the beginning of creation." For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that the heavens existed long ago and the earth held together out of water and through water by the word of God, by means of which things the world that existed at that time was destroyed by being inundated with water. But by the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly people. Now, dear friends, do not let this one thing escape your notice, that one day with the Lord is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like one day. The Lord is not delaying the promise, as some consider slowness, but is being patient toward you, because he does not want any to perish, but all to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will disappear with a rushing noise, and the celestial bodies will be destroyed by being burned up, and the earth and the deeds done on it will be disclosed. Because all these things are being destroyed in this way, what sort of people must you be in holy behavior and godliness, while waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by being burned up and the celestial bodies will melt as they are consumed by heat! But according to his promise, we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness resides.
(2Pe 3:3-13)

Some Churches may go overboard on this topic but I think most are hiding in the hull when they should be giving out a few warnings.

good topic DC, those are words that need to be said and heard.

one thing that jumped out to me. Christianity has been watered down. i couldn't agree more. i thiink we should all be asking ourselves why. the Christian church has been divided again and again. why? maybe we should be looking at the early church, and the first disputes that caused the first divisions. taking another look at the simple fundamentals. and try and discuss these things with a bit more openness rather than close minded "my way is the only way". maybe have an attitude that you will learn something new rather than i will teach "my way" to others. i hope that made sense and helped.

The whole council of God is to be proclaimed not just love and salvation...God is a God of judgment and for the majority it is going to be a very bad day......LOVE and TRUTH go hand in hand and one does God an injustice when they refuse to proclaim the BAD with the GOOD......
I think that the Apostle Paul had the proper balance:

2 Corinthians chapter 5 verses 10 thru 15

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.
For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.
For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

Paul knew both the terror of the Lord by which he sought to persuade men to turn away from sin and the love of Christ which constrained him to lay down his life for others. If we're lopsided in either direction or totally lacking in one of these two, then we're ineffective witnesses for Christ as far as I'm concerned. Paul warned every man whom he encountered and we'd be wise to do the same:

Colossians chapter 1 verses 28 and 29

Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

And Jesus said numerous times believe and your are having it!
Yes and that believing is a continuous act, not a one time confession of faith.
We have to continue to believe in Him to receive the promise of eternal life, and Jesus in Luke 6:46-49 tells us exactly what believing in Him means. He says there only those that do what He said have the foundation of their faith built on Him, but those who do not do their foundation is not founded upon Him. Apostle James takes this further and says a hearer only is deceived !!!

That passage in Luke from the Lord clearly shows believing is a continuous action and anything that says or teaches it is not can only be chalked up as a lie, for it clearly goes against what the Lord Himself said believing means doing as well.
