just want to make it clear i dont agree with suicide. i dont think its a straight shot to hell but think of the judgment you would get. you gonna stand in front of the Lord and tell him you threw away His beautiful gift, the breath of life he gave you.
you know I can see that but murder1 not indoring 2 and disobeying this is all sin so all I know is it won't end good for the guy who does do it

This topic always stirs something up in me. A good friend of mine lost a son to suicide about 10 years ago. It broke something in her mentally and she never did fully recover from it.
good point. for all of us that have kids, think of how much you love them and how much it would hurt to lose one to suicide. our Father in heaven loves us even more than that.
hope you can do all you can for your friend to help her with her loss.

Where in the bible does it say that people who commit suicide will go to hell? I've never found it, but people say it's true.

NO WHERE! That is a false doctrine. Yes it is a sin to commit suicide, but how much of your sins were yet in the future when JESUS Paid for your sins on the CROSS? Those who go to hell only go there for ONE SIN. That sin is rejecting what the Holy Spirit is trying to convict and convince one in our Heart, what is the TRUTH about Jesus Christ; also known as Blaspheming the Holy Spirit who is doing that work of empowering people to BELIEVE. REJECT THAT, and you have sealed your own destiny.

Mark 3:28-29 (HCSB)
[SUP]28 [/SUP] I assure you: People will be forgiven for all sins and whatever blasphemies they may blaspheme.
[SUP]29 [/SUP] But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”—

2 Corinthians 5:19 (NKJV)
[SUP]19 [/SUP] that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

1 John 2:2 (NRSV)
[SUP]2 [/SUP] and He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

Ephesians 2:5 (HCSB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!

NO we do not get to pat ourselves on the back for any PART of our SALVATION

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NRSV)
[SUP]8 [/SUP] For by grace you have been saved through faith,
and this is not your own doing;
it is the gift of God
[SUP]9 [/SUP] not the result of works, so that no one may boast.

THUS the ONLY sin ANYONE GOES TO HELL FOR is blaspheming the work of the Holy Spirit, by REJECTING the Holy Spirit's efforts to get us to Repent and BELIEVE in our hearts that we NEED to receive Jesus Christ as LORD, meaning MASTER.

1 John 5:12 (NKJV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

NO, our works have NOTHING TO DO WITH OUR SALVATION, and our WORKS are not what sends us to HELL; it is deciding to remain lord of our own lives, instead of receiving and surrendering to Jesus Christ as our LORD and Master.

NO, I am not advocating works righteousness, NOR that we can continue to willfully sin.
Genuine Salvation will produce in us an overwhelming desire to OBEY HIM, starting with
willingly giving HIM control of our lives; because we LOVE HIM.

John 14:15 (HCSB)
[SUP]15 [/SUP] “If you love Me, you will keepMy commands.

I will be honest with ya Phil.

It comes from the integrity and character of the Lord Jesus Christ.

If we want to focus on the integrity and character of man and ourselves............I would believe more like you.
Son, I have no clue where you're coming from with that last sentence, but it makes no sense nor can you support it from any of my posts, if it says I'm paying more attention to you than to Christ.

As for this:

I asked where you get that. It isn't in the bible, and this being a bible thread made me curious as to your source for such a statement.
If you don't want to answer, don't answer....just don't come up with some sort of nonsense to deflect the question.

There will be no sin in heaven. Anyone with sin at their death will not be in heaven. Heaven is a perfect place and God will allow no one to come in and dirty the place up.

Ecclesiates 11:3 "..................... and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be."

There sure is a lot of people making up their own doctrine around here, trying to establish their own righteousness on their rules. You folks really need to make sure your ideas, the things you project as being righteous, are biblical.

Romans 10:3 "For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God."

I was just in a health forum and a woman was threatening suicide. She is a Christian, but the depression is overpowering her.

We chatted and I encouraged her to keep hanging onto Christ. Tomorrow she sees her psychiatrist, hopefully for a med change. That is the ministry of reconciliation - bringing people to Christ, or encouraging them to hold on, in spite of the pain!

Reconciliation - that is the message of the gospel, not condemnation.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." 2 Cor. 5:17-21

"There is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1

So... the person committing suicide is already in a hell that they want to escape and so they kill themselves to only be put in another place of torment? Sounds so full of grace and love. Yep.

Guys, what did Jesus' death on the cross pay for? All sin. Right? All. Is suicide a sin? If you say yes because its murder (of self) then that sin too was washed in the blood of Christ. Its ALL right? You say we must repent after we have committed a sin and there is no time for repentance of sin in this instance?

Do you not think Jesus considered the sin of suicide upon that cross? Do you think suicide is an unforgivable sin, and do you find any scripture saying such? The Word says he paid for all sin, and if suicide is a sin then that too was paid for. Do you see the faulty logic to say that a person committing the sin of suicide goes to Hell? If that is the case, then Jesus didn't pay for all sin and you make God out to be a liar.

We have two options here then. Number one is that suicide is a sin that is washed in the blood of Christ (for the believer) because Jesus paid for all sin (even such a one that is unrepentant-able) or number two, suicide is not a sin therefore not contradicting God's Word that Jesus paid for all sin. If suicide is a sin then it is paid for, if otherwise Jesus' death was of no effect and He did not pay for all sin making God out to be a liar (of which case we know is not the case).

Do you have a counter-argument or do you wish to plead the fifth? There is no getting around what was said. Either Jesus paid for all sin, or God is a liar. Which do you subscribe to? I hold God is not a liar and Jesus indeed paid for all sin.

All sin that is repented of. Show me, even one, scripture where heaven is available for a sinner without repenting. Just one.

This topic has been discussed at depth on other threads. The only hope for a suicide victim is if they don't die instantaneously, if they have enough time to tell God they regret it, that they repent of it.
Can it happen? Certainly. However, to say that all suicide victims go to heaven is simply a lie and the bible supports that nowhere.

Jesus did pay for ALL sin... but there are also CONDITIONS attached for finding your name written in the "accounting ledger" as having received it.

People who are murders, violate children, commit sodomy and assert to change their sex by decision are ALL mentally ill... but God will make an exception for them too based on your theology.:(

And there we have it, folks. More condemnation, judgment, and sentencing to hell for sinners. What a great gospel you proclaim!

Your doctrine of sin confession for forgiveness' sake makes you tell parents that their child who committed suicide, who believed in Jesus, is in Hell. That is just many of the "fruits" of the doctrine of sin confession and also a rejection of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. 1 John 1:9, one verse, and you make a whole doctrine of it. Yet we will find many verses supporting the truth that Jesus Christ's blood takes away all sin (read Hebrews).

We repent when we turn to Jesus, period. All sin is then taken care of, yes future sin as well. Now go ahead, accuse me of making a license to sin. You wouldn't be the first in history to make such a statement against God's grace. If Heaven isn't available to the sinner, then we are both doomed. However, thank God for His grace and the blood of Jesus. If you think your sin confession is what holds you securely, and not Jesus the Author and Finisher of your faith, then you may boast on the day of judgement. I, however, will boast in the Lord for His Son's sacrifice pointing to Jesus and His finished work. I will rest in Jesus, while you rest in your works.

You see, this is why this topic has to be approached carefully and why people shy away from just explicitly stating that suicide is forgivable, because of the repercussions that someone might think that its "okay." But, it isn't okay. Your life matters, you have a purpose to live! You have people the Lord is going to touch through you that could have a butterfly effect on millions of lives coming to Jesus Christ, or even just through your preaching. You see, just because we can does not mean that we ought to. We are a part of the body of Christ, and every part is essential.
