Hmmmm... Is this a trick question?... One of those, separating the wheat from the chaff, kinda' things?... All kidding aside, it is a loaded one!... But hear it goes... In short, “the Gospel” is the sum total of the saving truth as God has communicated it to us, revealed in the person of His Son and the Holy Scriptures, the Bible... Ta'daaaahh....
"13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. Yes the teachings of Jesus are essential in the gospel of Christ for He tells us how to receive remission of sins through Him that reconciles us back to God.
Without that remission of sins nobody would see the kingdom of heaven, and Jesus Himself said those who believe in Him are those who's foundation of faith is built on Him by doing what He said. The doing part can not be taken away from faith as Jesus said and showed three parts to believing in Him: Coming to Him, hearing what He said, and then doing what He said.
