Nobody hates anyone here. I just find it strange that you are supposedly a christian, yet still defend the RCC. Catholicism is a false religion. Christianity is the only TRUE religion. If you were christian, you would renounce your beliefs in the RCC, but you staunchly defend them, and THAT is why people here are doubting your sincerity as a christian.
Blue, this thread will never end. You tried reaching out. It's best now to just pray. The owner of this site created the thread in the first place (three years ago, mind you), as he wanted to make a point on the Catholic Church, so I doubt the mods will be closing this thread down. It is painful (to me, at least) seeing this on the home page whenever someone posts something new, so I try not to look at it. I'm hoping you do the same.
The reason I stay here is yall post some pretty outrageous stuff about the Catholic Church here and most of its false or hearsay or pure ignorant opinion. I Love the Church and believe most of you might be jealous of a person who has a home church and fellowship since most of you teach, "hide and read the bible" Inwardly you might be longing for real fellowship, i don't care what denomination. I have a very good home Church that supports my faith and offers opportunity to put my faith into practice. I study under qualified teachers and we must have missed the memo that said we are now deserving of death! (Really?) I know through my study certain truths to. You don't have a corner on the market. I have seen no reason here to leave my Church and become bitter, and judgemental as you are. I guess I might be judging now but this is ridiculous
And that - right there - is the crux of the problem. Most Catholics don't read their Bibles because the RCC teaches that their congregants must rely on the Church and her Priests to properly interpret the Scriptures, because the average person "can't understand them" and thus discourages personal Bible reading.
I live in a town that is predominately Catholic, and when I drive by their churches on Sunday, I never see anyone carrying a Bible.
When Catholics trust their Priests to tell them what the Bible says, and means, it's easy for them to fall into the pit of doctrinal error.
I have talked to many Catholics face-to-face, and they can only quote a few lines of Scripture (just the ones they hear spoken over and over in church every week), and little else.
As the Bible says; People "perish for lack of knowledge" (Job 36:12)
It's why you, mwc68, appeal to emotions instead of the Bible in your arguments.

I have never been discouraged from reading the bible, I have been encouraged. I really don't know why you say these terrible things. In my experience they are false. I especially like the one Mr. Kenallen brought up about the penalty of death for studying the scriptures . I find that particularly funny since one of the organizations I belong to studies the scriptures.
Mr. Budman, you show your ignorance and admit you just listen to hearsay. The Catholic Church is on a 3 Yr cycle reading the bible. at Mass. Daily Mass has 3 Bible readings and Sat and Sun Mass have 4. In 3 Yr we cover the whole bible. Your premise is totally false. You say we just say the same reading over and over? Gotta call BS on that one sir! This is the kind of ignorant stuff I'm talking about

Roman Catholics have only existed for 1200 years. So which Catholics do you mean? Catholic is only a name. It originally signified all Christians throughout the world who belonged to their independent churches, followed the Apostolic teaching found in the Gospels and letters of Paul and Peter, and fellowshipped together. It was only later that the term was hijacked by a bunch of murderers, thieves, deceivers and adulterers who did not know a Catholic from Adam and claimed the title for themselves in their bid to disobey Christ and set themselves up as demi-gods and rulers of men.

Did you know mwc68 people were put to death by the Roman Catholic Church for not accepting Catholicism and for not converting to be a Catholic? Millions of people have been murdered by the Roman Catholic Church.

They have Jesus all set up on the cross - still hanging on it, when He was resurrected.
They have a confessional, and have to tell their sins to someone who is not Jesus, and then this person who is not Jesus, gives them hail marys and whatever else as penance.
They just do not seem to grasp the whole reason of Jesus Christ, and indeed appear to be more anti-Christ than believers of His Way.
They also appear to be like the pharisees...all the big hats and robes and positions of importance.
This is not what Jesus was all about at all.
Lord I pray in jesus name that you will lift the veil from the faces of all catholics, so they can see You Lord. See you directly, and be enlightened and set free to be in Christ and Your Way. Amen.

That's odd. When I talk to Catholics (and I have many who come into my store everyday) not a single one was ever encouraged to personally read the Bible. When I ask them about it, the usual answers are; "It's too hard to understand" or "Our Priest tells us what it says" or "you Protestants worship the Bible - we don't."
Once, when I tried to share Scripture, I even had one mock me saying, "Ohhh the Bible says! The Bible says!" rolling his eyes all the while, and the Catholics who were with him were angry with me for quoting the God's Word.
Many fellow Christians in my town had/have similar experiences with Catholics in regard to the Bible.

Your focus on the Roman Catholic Church is wrong. You need to focus on God and what He has done for you, but i can see this will never happen as long as you remain in the Roman Catholic Church.
