When I was 16 I was allowed to paint my new bedroom and I chose mauve and lavender. I cut the ceiling on a diagonal and did the window sill to contrast with the wall, with two walls mauve, and two lavender, plus every stick of furniture I painted those two shades as well, including my steel frame bed. However, shortly after that for many years I walked away from my love of all the shades of purple, but re-embraced it in my early thirties... I did not wait until I was old to wear purple. I wear it every day, still. :)

And you always write in purple font too :)

Now that's dedication!

This is the first post I made when I joined this site July 3rd.

I am new here, having just joined earlier today
:) I am a born
again believer since 2004; the following poem I wrote in 1988.

***

I'm so confused
What did I do?
The Bible says I'm evil.
Have I lived most of my life
In the grips of the devil?

Why was this?
I think I know:
Insecurity had me in it's throes.
Love I was afraid to show
And so I lived in darkness.

But what is evil?
Self esteem?
Following your heart-felt dreams?

Surely God on glorious high
Takes no delight to see me cry.

His love for me I must believe
Because of Him we were conceived;
Love is where I long to be
And so live in His likeness.

But what is love?
Does anyone know
Just what it is
We're supposed to show?

What kind?
How much?
Where does it go?
Who determines our love's flow?

Are we really in control
When sitting at the wheel?
For reason still eludes me
When I think on how I feel.

Are we the same?
Are we to blame?
What forces shape our lives?

Science looks for answers
While our spirits we deprive.

Haha, that's great. I'm assuming you hate the color purple? ;) ;) :p :p
People ask me all the time if it is my favourite colour. You can imagine the tall guy gets a little tired of being asked what the weather is like up there. (I am neither tall, nor a guy ;)) Once I said, no, actually, I dislike the colour purple, and I am only wearing it for therapy. The person was quite taken aback, and asked REALLY??? I had to fess up and say, no. But it is funny to me. People wear lots of black or blue all the time and nobody bats an eye. Some people assume I only happen to be wearing purple that one day they see me, and will say something like, hey, even your glasses match what you are wearing today. I will say, actually, my glasses match what I am wearing every day! (I am only a little obsessive compulsive.) LOL

Haha, that takes devotion.
Yeah, sometimes it seems a little silly, you know, just because I have to take extra time to do it for every single post, but yes, I am devoted to my love of purple LOL

you know how ... if you've seen an actor in a series of movies and you know him as "that guy", and when you see him in a totally different movie it just feels all.... fake?

I'm having a moment like that with a book now
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

Another of the poems from my youth...

***

I tried to shield this heart from love

To spare myself the pain
Forlorn indeed I fell and
This endeavour wrought my shame

Because I could not face the depth
Of feelings you inspired
I ran away
How could I know I'd burn in hell's vile fire?

I tried to pick the pieces up
--Abysmal
----Broken
------Charred
A semblance of normality
I worked for very hard

Thusly mired I struggled
Both to end and attain flight
Striving to excise the wound
And cease my despaired plight

But always irrevocably
Your image came to bear
My being strained to fill the void
With love I could not share

Ever present buried deep
Within my tortured soul
My love lay pining hidden from
A world which seemed so cold

How could I have so erred in life
To plainly lose my way
Ignoring my emotive will
Keeping myself at bay

By thinking I'd be happy
In fulfilling others' hearts
Relentless death crept on me
And eclipsed my vital spark

Magenta, do you write a lot of poems?
I may have written around 50 in my life.
I prefer to write quotes, one or two liners,
that way, people won't get bored.

Oh, that is a great poem. Heart felt on
your words.
