In His Hand
The crowd was great and food was scarce
They hungered to be fed
So in his hand they placed two fish
And five loaves of bread
And as he blessed the meager means
And gave it to the crowd
Each man and woman, boy and girl
Was satisfied somehow
Because in his hand
Little becomes much
In his Hand
Blessed by his touch
There is nothing that can't be remade
No heartache that can stand
As long as you let go
And place it in his hand
This poor blind man, blind from birth
Stood begging by the way
And heard the bustle of the crowd
As the Master passed that day
When he cried out for mercy
His voice was not unheard
That day his eyes saw the light
And he spread the word
That "in His hand
He made the blind to see
In His hand
No ill could cling to me
While all others passed me by
The Master made a stand
And he healed me there, with the power
In His hand..."
Accused, abused and beaten down
He never tried to flee
And as he carried that cross up the hill
There's nowhere else that he would be
A strong-armed soldier, with hammer and nail
Secured him to the beam
But the nails that held him there
Weren't as strong as they may seem
There was something else in his hand
That kept him on that cross
It wasn't hammered iron
That led to his blood loss
Two thousand years before my time
And still it was plain to see
The thing that held Jesus there-
That thing was you and me
In His Hand,
My sin was the nail
In His Hand
That held him to that rail
And no matter what the records say
I know the truth and understand
That my very soul
Was driven in His hand...
In His Hand!
My heart remains today!
In His Hand!
The scars won't go away.
And no matter where the road leads
In Him I'll make my stand
For I'm staying now

Your Heart Still Beats
Wrote this when my sister died... has a lot of personal value
Trying to be strong
In the face of all that I've ever feared
My fears have never lived long
Because I always knew that you were here
But now I face this road without you
And the strength I have is small
Sometimes I cry just thinking about you
And I feel like I may fall...
But something inside me
Won't let me quit the fight
And a small voice in my heart tells me
That everything will be alright...
Your heart still beats
Inside of me
Your voice still speaks
Still guiding me
As long as I have with me
Your memory
You will never be gone
Your heart still beats in me...
I felt my heart break
When they took you away
My mind was racked
With the things I never got to say
But I know that no matter
What time may take or may give
You'll always be with me
And in my heart you will live

Inside of me

Still guiding me

The Carpenter
A carpenter was given a job; nobody thought it could be done.
A bridge that spanned eternity was priority number one.
This carpenter, he had no tools, and materials he had few,
but the carpenter set to work, knowing just what to do.
Two large beams of wood he used, in a criss-cross fashion.
And only three old rusty nails to finish off his mission.
He had at once a crew of twelve, in the end he worked alone.
But still he kept on working until the bridge was done.
He had no union backing, he wasn't even paid.
Where other workers would have quit, this man gladly stayed.
In the end his blood and sweat, the bridge foundation made.
The final sacrifice of his life made sure the bridge.
There's no toll to cross this bridge; the price paid was his blood.
Who would have thought a bridge to heaven could be made from a cross of wood?

It’s not just the friendship I miss
It’s the way you would inspire me
The way you would encourage me

Shallow Little Soul, rewritten
Years ago, I wrote a poem called shallow little soul that summed up my views on life, love, and all... I am now rewriting it. Hope it helps someone.
Tangled up by destiny,
I tried to assume that I was me
And me was all I dared to be
In my shallow little soul
I figured myself above it all
Above His word, Above His Law
And the higher my ego, the farther the fall
For my shallow little soul
Consumed by self I walked alone
My face to the ground, my back to the throne
Without His light, sick to the bone
And my shallow little soul
Desperately saught repose
Some rest in Earth, among all those
Who didn't care, I now suppose
for my shallow little soul
Now on my face before the cross
I weep for what I count as loss
Trying hard to be the boss
of my shallow little soul
I cry out for the Savior's touch
And hope my sin is not to much
I throw down my life, my worldly crutch
And pray he'll make me whole

Mountains and Valleys
I stand upon the mountaintop, the valley has been long...
I look out over the rest of the road, and wonder if I am strong
I made the climb this far, I haven't given up
At times I've prayed that from me, God would take this cup

I hide not from the shadows, I fear not the light
I don't know how I'll make it, or be the man I must
I only pray and keep the faith, and place in him my trust

Reality Used to Be a Friend of Mine
I can still remember when the world around me was sane
And I didn't have to go far to rest my brain
And there was always someone there to share my pain
But those outlets fade as my glory days wane
And no matter where I look, I always find a
Reminder
Of a simpler time
When reality used to be a friend of mine
I didn't need to escape, to hide my face
Now I'm transported, contorted in a hollow space
And I pace around, bound in a confused place
With a trembling gait still I hold this pace
And everywhere I go, still I feel confined
Try to unwind
And walk the broken line
Where reality used to be a friend of mine
Reality used to be a friend of mine
When love was cut and dry, and the world was fine
When I knew beyond doubt where my next meal would be
And I had no questions 'bout who loved me
When there was no second thought about the roof over my head
And every night I slept in my own warm bed
When my heart didn't break, and I didn't fear falling

Freedom is an illusion where you only think you're free
