Acts 2 : 17 is a fulfillment of ancient prophecy which is very exciting as it is still being unpacked today. What do you think when you read the word vision? Is it television, x-ray vision? When we look out of our flesh eyes this is called vision. There are many who claim to have had visions of the 3rd heaven, but the mindset around this is that it is all just a vision like a screen or image in front of them or in their minds not actually going there and having a vision of the actual 3rd heaven itself.

Try Gen. 15. Personally I think God took Abram out of either sleeping or day dreaming, and he entered into a conversation with God. I think that one really happened, but any time someone "sees God" in a vision, they don't actually see God. Moses and John saw his feet. And I don't think they were really feet, just the bottom of God's presence, because they could tell what God was standing on (gem-like blue stones -- probably sapphire -- but they never mentioned how many toes he had or if he was wearing sandals.

Have you heard of the many people in todays world that have testimony of going to heaven and hell, some see only these realms, some see angels and demons, some see Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They say its nore than just a vision picture in front of them but rather their spirit and souls leave their bodies and travel to other places. Your thoughts?

In specific contexts, it seems fair to assume the word means more than something that appeals to only one sense (sight); that it's more of an experience. How Acts 2:17 applies it strikes me as appealing specifically to sight; scenes and/or images, due to the verbage: "your young men shall see visions."

Of course that's a very literal-minded way of looking at it and is subjective to interpretation.

The problem is sometimes they go back to earlier lives, or they enter into someone else's body or they never get around to seeing God, so I'm suspect of all the stories. If it glorifies Man, not God, how significant is it really?

I tend to believe that if our natural bodies have 5 senses then our spirit bodies have those same and even more. Even though a vision can be seen in the natural, usually a trance depicts this, our spirit bodies when in the spirit realm can see what the spirit eyes can see just as our natural eyes see natural things.

These references I speak about dont go into other peoples bodies and speak of previous or earlier lives. They most certainly glorify Jesus and the creation of heaven and its intricacies and beauties beyond our imagination. Once anyone moves past this common mindset you have displayed (I say this in love as it is a common belief and view) and see that our God is behind this and is revealing His love and glory, hearts will race with inexpressable joy. A sad truth in the church today is that there are still so many who dont even believe in visions, dreams and prophecy, avenues in which God speaks and reveals Himself, His nature, and His creation.
