shakespear was such a bore in highshcool i struggle immensely with people who try and convince its interesting etc. oh that was a real chore sitting through those english classes
I used to wonder why people thought shakespeare was so interesting too when I was in high school, but then our english teacher had us watch the original Romeo and Juliet movie in class. That made me realize how good shakespeare really was, and also gave me a huge crush on Olivia Hussey (who played Juliet).

I hate corporate phrases like "Moving forward… blah blah blah," because I find it's always in reference to a new way of doing something to fix a problem, but it rarely actually fixes the problem.
Also "buns", as in "Heyyyyyy, honey buns." And "Literally" when used incorrectly. Someone will be like "He's literally the most right wing nut job I've ever met." And then my head explodes with all the figurative language they have no idea they're using.
Also, when people (particularly women - and this isn't so much a word as just a sound) do that kinda high pitch "Woo Woo -- Woo Woo" and pump their fist Arsenio Hall style. That's not to be confused with the standard Arsenio Hall "Woo woo woo woo woo" which is more of a low grunt… no this "woo woo" became popular in the mid 90's, around the same time as Cotton Eye Joe and the Macarena. I remember my sister doing it once at a baseball game and my mother yelled at her, "LAURA! Don't make that awful noise!" And I was glad she did because I was about ready to coldcock my sister.
Many years later, there was this girl I had a massive crush on and I eventually asked her out… it was kinda of a mess. I would see her everyday because I work with her (yeah yeah yeah, I know. I shouldn't have asked a coworker out) but about a month later she did the "Woo woo" thing I'm talking about and my attraction to her was immediately, violently torn from my being, freeing me from that unrequited attraction that so plagued me.
Anyone who would ever make that sound is no friend of mine.

The phrase "Happy Wife, Happy Family", and other similar phrases. It's like if the mom isn't happy no one else in the family is allowed to be happy not to mention that it's everyone's job to keep the mom happy. So what if the mom is in a depression, does that mean no one else is allowed to have joy?
There are some Shakespeare plays that I like, but I agree most are not that interesting. The one I hated the most in High School was MacBeth. Ended up having to do it twice, and almost nearly three times. However, PBS did create a modern day version of MacBeth that I actually liked.

As one of eleven children, I was not alone in thinking/feeling that I did not get to have enough "quality time" with my mother... of course it was a different generation then but, any ways... this movie was one of two my mother took me to see at the theaters near where we lived... so near, we could walk there in about ten minutes. As a thirteen year old at the time, I wondered if there was some hidden message in the choice of this movie for me. The only other time I really got to spend alone with my mother was when she took me to see the Barbra Streisand/Omar Sharif movie, Funny Girl, that same year. That was a beautiful story. The only omar sharif movie I remember was dr. schivago. But I do remember when funny girl was popular.

(My mother was x-rayed at around seven months, which is how it was decidedly determined that she was carrying twins, and then they x-rayed her a third time to see if there was a third one in there). They would not dare do such a thing today (LOL?) Oh, my, Doctor Zhivago is a beloved movie of mine, having seen it multiple times (easily more than six) and even read the book more than once. Such artistry! Russians sort of fascinated me, and who could not love Omar?
