Happy people are more attractive

back to the OP, unhappy doesn't necessarily mean depressed. there are a lot of angry, bitter, jealous, etc individuals who are just not happy about ANYTHING. they can be good-looking all they want, but if they have all this stuff inside, it can be draining for others.

just an opinion :)
 
I don't think I mean the term "happy" not to mean folks don't have issues..or some ups and downs.

Yes I think that "root of bitterness" is kinda the thing that turns folks away.

agreed! i used it as a defense mechanism i guess. i didn't want others to know i was depressed, so what did i do? make them laugh.
 
Man, I'm glad that when I was really struggling with grief and heart-break that there were people who came along side me and just loved me where I was and didn't expect me to 'be happy'. They let me just be where I was and have slowly allowed me to heal on my time frame.

I know too many people who hide behind a joke or a happy face who inside are hurting and terrified that they'll be left alone if they were honest with where they were emotionally.

I'd rather someone be real, even if that real isn't happy-fun-time person all the time.

Of course they can still be unhappy. Keep in mind, my original post was more towards referencing someone who's unhappy, but not to the point that's all that they are. Unhappy people can still have joyful moments. I know from experience.
 
You know for a Christian...not to have a certain degree of joy and happiness is a thing that I think is not pleasing to the Lord...knowing we all go through seasons where we battle and have to overcome...its that joy that brings us out of the darkness .

well I thought you said they was fun and laugh and smile "all the time" you mean on rare occasions ?

Completely agree, Mitspa. It's unfortunate that not everyone finds that kind of joy.

Well... its kind of a choice ..that we have as Christians ...that maybe others don't have. I know its not always easy but most of the bitter people I know (even Christians) are not trying to change but seem to want to often just lay their unhappiness on others.
 
Perhaps rather than use the word "unhappy" we should say something like "bitter and angry", "quick to be offended" or something like that. Because we all go through sad & unhappy times in our lives. But people who easily lash out at others or who are always picking at faults in others, or personalize everything like the world revolves around them, those are the types I like to avoid.

Just a THOUGHT Melita...I can tell your true personality is that of a joyful ..happy person. I believe that's who God want s you to be...maybe the real you was being attacked by satan (the accuser) and part of your problem was trying to be something instead of just being what you are?
