I've always been told that more cats are owned then dogs. and both of those more than avians, reptiles, fish, snakes, amphibians, spiders, rodents, and small mammals like rabbits and chinchillas. so. I have to wonder...what does everyone at cc say? :D
 
I'm alergic to cats, so none of those for me. That ok, cats don't like me much anyways. I'm more of a dog person. The first dog I had was a pekingese-poodle, got him when I was 2 and he was a puppy, and the dog lived to be 14 and a half years old.

Right now I have a chow-mix that we got 4 years ago from the animal shelter, and he's 12 now. I swear, this is the smartest dog I've ever met. He knows how telephones work. When I was away at college and my mom was talking on the phone, my dog would know if she was talked to me or not, and he knew that if he barked into the phone that I could hear him. During a spring break one year, I didn't go home for the break, instead I went on a mission trip to Kansas City. My dog changed from his normal barking to making sounds of a sad, dying cow. When I got back to college, he was back to his normal barking. Not once did I stop at home between this.

I have four cats and a bazillion fish...the fish keep having babies!!! There is not a day you don't see little tiny things the size of a rice grain attempting to steal extra flakes of fish food off the tanks floor!!!! My cats are amazing, all adopted and adorable. I would die without my cat...she's just so sweet and always wants me to be happy...**awww**
 
I have never understood how or why certain people would keep snakes and rodents as their pet. In my culture, people kill snake and they would never let it go alive. We have a lot of bamboo groves in our region and since snakes especially cobras built their home in it, our menfolk who are experts in snake killing would go hunting for it just so we could be safe. Snake is also understood to symbolise devil in our culture.

Dogs and cats are the two most popular pet in our society, almost every household have them. Pigeon, parrots, rabbit, fish are also loved as pets.
 
I have 2 cats. The oldest one Fritz I have been Blessed to have for twenty years.
He is very loving and friendly to everyone. And he is a great friend who loves me unconditionally despite my flaws.
The other one B.B. I have had for 8 years. Before I became disabled she would go out with me on the road and she really loved it. I would steer with my left hand and shift with my right (drove and 18 wheeler). She would sit in my lap, put her paws on my left arm and watch out the driver side window as we went down the road. I think many people got surprised to look up and see her watching them as they went by. The truck I was driving at that time had a caterpiller motor in it which when they get working purrs like a kitty. Maybe that’s why she loved it so much.

Strange...every time I make a thread about pets, nobody seems to be interested in the slightest. I gave it up as a bad job.

I have two dogs, three cats, a mouse, two snakes and a few stick insects.
 
They say dogs are a man's best friend. I love dogs. They bring life and they show so much emotion when they are so happy. I love to cuddle them.

I don't like big dogs very much cause I am a small person and they overpower me.

i have 8 cats all from people dumping them off ;i hate cruel and inhumaine people ;i love all of my cats ;and im the same way id die wthout my cats ; i say animals are just like humans they have feelings and they know when your down and all animals show ther love in diffrent ways
 
we have 4 dogs and what's interesting is that, we named them by the month they were born / we had them... like our shih tzu his name is Jan-Jan (from

month of January), our indian spitz her name is April (month of April) , our philippine dog, or 'aspin' (short for asong pinoy) as we say in our own tongue her

name is Sep (month of September) and her brother Tem (month of September)...
 
I have a Cat (medium haired tabby) and a Dog (Silky Terrier).

Weve had like 5 cats I since I was born, along with 1 other dog. I love cuddling up with my soft warm kitty :)... but when I get too tired and cannot pay her the attention she wants she leaves me all alone :(

I love Birds though. But I don't like the work involved cleaning cages and stuff. We have helped some wounded birds recover though. Love stalking em and getting pics with my Ipod though

I have two cats and a dog. but at my parents house we always had so many animals.. over there we are down to 3 cats and a bunch of rats, a hamster and a rabbit.

Though at our fullest there were 7 cats, two snakes, ratties, a dog (and when we first got her from the pound we discovered she was taught to steal!! It was funny.).. erm there were birds for a short time. oh and gerbils.. I have found I much prefer rats to gerbils.
 
My Pet's Name is Scooby, he's 6 years old and such a spoiled Doggy and i love him he's my baby boy and i take good care of him
 
I have 5 cats! Clark, Cheetara, Mel, Lisbela and Sofia!! :)

Yeah... I'll be that crazy cat lady when I get older...

Maybe I alredy am and I just haven't realized it yet... O.o

Maybe that's why I'm single...

I have a dog, four cats and two parakeets. So I pretty much have a mini zoo.

I would say that dogs tend to be more favored than cats since they are easier to gain affection from everyone within the household. For first time pet owners and those raising a family then I would advise to get a dog first before a cat for this reason. Because of cats being more so distant and tend to reserve their attention to one or two people at best, they're good for those who can have that type of patience and not want to be bothered as much throughout the day. Some cases when people no longer want the cat then they let them out to become strays, which populates generations of strays from there if they were not fixed. Dogs are usually captured once they are found on the streets and they don't populate as fast.

Other type of pets like reptiles, rodents and birds are typically for those who want to expand their care and knowledge, though it may be more pricey depending on the type you get. Larger parrots are equivalent to the attention span and care of a two year old toddler, not to mention a lifetime of continual commitment and having someone to care for them in your will if they outlive you. The only reason we have parakeets is because my mother is used to having some, otherwise we'd stick to the dog and cats.
 
I have a wild cat. Or maybe I should say she has me. I was suckered into feeding her and now she owns me. O well, she teaches me compassion, and faithfulness. She always shows up at breakfast and dinner and looks at me as if saying, "OK, I'm here you can feed me now!"
