Hmmm go figure... here in highschool you are aloud to hold hands with your partner but you are not allowed to say the Lords prayer... now tell me, is that even ground?

That may be in Canada, but here in America, you can absolutely say any prayer you darn well please in schools.

The idea that prayer was taken out of American schools is a complete and total misrepresentation of the facts. SCHOOL SANCTIONED PRAYER is what was removed, and rightfully so. But nobody will stop a student in school from praying.

As far as I remember, we never had state sanctioned prayer in school here.

What you call "becoming second class citizens" in regards to Christianity is simply the playing field being levelled and everyone being on equal ground.

Even with that, though, Christians are nowhere NEAR being second class citizens in this country.
Well, you're not a Christian... how would you know what we go through on a daily basis? :)

1) I was one in the past.
2) I know Christians.
3) You don't have to be a Christian to know the facts.

It amazes me anymore what goes on in this world without seeing any Christians protesting about it. Like this Lady Ga Ga incident where she thanks God and gays in the same breath, almost as if she's saying the two are comparably equal. This sickened me because its like saying thanks to God and sin in the same breath. I wish we still had a voice in this world and could take her off the radio.

We have quit standing up for what is right because unfortunately most of the church has adopted a stronghold mentality that the church is powerless to stop the onslaught of the media's control over the world. What much of the church needs to realize is the reason for their feeling powerless against what is going on.

If the enemy can convince you of the perception that you are powerless then you will never have the motivation to try to do something about it. If you never try to do anything about it, then nothing will ever be done about it. This is the repetitive cycle of lies that the enemy uses to handicap the church. There are some in the church who are doing something about it, unfortunately not enough of the church is taking this approach. Because of this, those who are trying to do something about it are limited in power.

The unity of the Body of Christ has never been needed more than today. We need to lay aside our theological differences and unite around Jesus. So some people think that you need to speak in tongues as proof of baptism in the Holy Spirit, and some don't. Some think that drinking in general is a sin, and some do not. Some feel that the gifts and miracles of the Holy Spirit died with the 12 Apostles, some think that they are still for today and claim to operate in them. All I can say is that the enemy is laughing at us as we fight over this stuff and keep dividing ourselves around our need to be right. The enemy knows that if he can't get us divided from Jesus, he can handicap us by dividing us from each other.

Are these issues really worth dividing ourselves over? Does someone have to completely agree with your theology for you to embrace them as a brother or sister? It is time for the spirit of pride to no longer influence the church and for the bride of Christ to rise up to her calling!!!!

Something I left out in this, that I just realized. Someone who is able to cultivate their intimacy with God in the secret place will have God opening doors for them to honestly effect society. It has happened before in the past (ie: Aimee Semple McPherson, William Seymour, Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln, William Wilberforce, Reinhard Bonnke.

If you read these people's biographies you will find that they all entrenched themselves in God in the adversities that they faced to effect the change that they felt that God put on their hearts. My point being, people need to seek God until they have a renewed mind that has the positive outlook of heaven to not allow circumstance or other people to stop them from what God has called them to do.

Interesting topic... there's several thing's I'd like to say to the original poster.

A.) Just because you thank two people in the same sentence does not mean you are saying they are the ''same.'' I don't know why you think that is, because it makes no sense. If an athlete thanked his team and his parents for always motivating him to succeed, he is not saying ''team = parents."

B.) Maybe Lady Ga Ga wasn't talking about your God.

C.) Lighten up. This ultra-conservative, making a moral issue out of everything attitude isn't going to win any converts to Christianity. Lady Ga Ga lives in a free country, she can thank whoever she wants. If you want to censor everyone who doesn't agree with you you're welcome to go find some island, start your own society with your own rules, and forget about the rest of the world.

D.) I didn't pick this avatar to poke fun, I had it before I even read this topic.

Lightening up on sin is not what we need to do at this time. To even say I thank God for the racy videos she makes is wrong, but to add gays right up their with God is down right wrong. She is not stupid she knew what she was doing. For that reason she should be stood up against not because your judging her but because you have to call sin what it is.

Perhaps he did not word it well but from what I can tell, he is only being zealous for his creator. So when Lady GaGa thanked God and homosexuals in the same sentence, he felt that God was being insulted. There's nothing wrong with that either.

B.) Maybe Lady Ga Ga wasn't talking about your God.
True but this is a moot point as the general first impression would be that she is referring to the Jewish/Christian God. If Jessica Simpson thanked God for her career, most people would assume (perhaps incorrectly?) that she means the Christian God and not say, Allah. I am not saying that we should assume or that she is necessarily referring to the Christian God. But it is reality - that is the first impression people will get whether they are correct or incorrect in the assumption.

C.) Lighten up. This ultra-conservative, making a moral issue out of everything attitude isn't going to win any converts to Christianity. Yes, she has every right to do so and by the same standards, so does the original poster. If he wants to be ultra-conservative, that's his choice too, right?

Also, technically, we don't convert. It's not our job though we may forget from time to time. Our job is to present the Gospel. God will speak to the hearer. If you really want to get even more technical, converts are pre-destined from God's point of view. So, there is no "winning converts" from God's point of view. He already knows who will choose Jesus and who won't.

D.) I didn't pick this avatar to poke fun, I had it before I even read this topic.
I don't think anyone would've had a problem with it even if you didn't mention it. After all, quite a few of the posters in this thread don't even know who she is to begin with much less how she looks like. ;) Though I have to say that her poker face... well, it isn't really a poker face... too much emotion in that photo... hmmmm...

Not to mention there is only one God ,so when someone says I thank God for this I think Christians should correct them if it is not right.

As far as I remember, we never had state sanctioned prayer in school here.
when I was in primary school
we had our school pledge

I honour my God
I serve my queen
I am loyal to my school
I salute the flag

and the Lord's prayer

Our Father...etc

We also had folk dancing
which was a good way to train guys and girls to get on with each other and mutually respect

Sodum and Gomorrah is a nice little story about Gays and God>

'Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.' Ezekiel 16:49-50

To say that Sodom and Gomorrah is about 'gays and God' is a gross overstatement and ignores the Scriptures that say why Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed.
