Oh and the Rugby World Cup is this week on the 19th just saying...

1. To reassure Missy14 who is a kiwi that there are some americans on CC who can watch rugby
2. Because Missy14 says its a cool game
3. You reckon if you watched the game and saw it was a cool game youd watch it more
4. Because you can throw water bombs at Missy for sugggesting this crazy idea
5. Milo cookies were made for the first time by Missy and they were yum thats the reason

I would not. But then again i don't watch American sports either. Sports are boring. Except MMA. And that can get boring at times too.

I don't fancy sports like rugby, they are slow and boring...

I know rugby fans say that it is american football without padding... But in all honesty it is not... American football players wear padding because its a much more violent sport... I have watched both and I don't fancy to watch a bunch of men pull each-others pants down and group-hug....
(p.s. I don't like football either)

I watch stuff like Rally, Motorcross, Snowboarding, Endurocross, etc.

Yeah it very different it may be more violent but then again in rugby they don't wear helmets .

I watched rugby in 1971. Honestly? The only enjoyable part of the sport was looking at the fine specimens of college players playing the game. (University of Virginia rugby, so don't be thinking Americans don't play it. lol) Once I realized those same guys were walking around campus without beating each other up just to get a too-big football, there was no reason to keep watching them hurt each other.

I was only 15 at the time, so they looked so much more grown up. lol

Would I give watching rugby a go? Sure. Would I enjoy it? Probably not. :p But the same goes for any other sport. I'm not discriminatory in my dislike for sports.

I think that's just your American patriotism talking, brother. Rugby is pretty darn violent.

Rugby is nothing like football in violence... The padding does not make it hurt less, it allows you to hit harder...

I don't like either sport that much, but in terms of violence I would have to say football is far more violent. And I don't think that is my "patriotism" coming out. Although I am patriotic, I think that is due to the evidence as seen in the video below.

As you can see american football is far more violent...

Jim McKenna, a professor of physical activity and health at Leeds Metropolitan University (and a rugby coach). He points out that American footballers tackle with their heads, butting each other in a way seldom seen in rugby. "They butt the opposition and their head is the tip of the missile, with an enormous body of weight behind them," says McKenna. Meanwhile, the helmets and padding the US sportsmen wear can actually make the situation worse, he thinks, encouraging them to use more force.

American football or rugby: which is more dangerous? | Sport | The Guardian

Though rugby itself can be a violent game, it pales in comparison to American football. American football players are larger and stronger than rugby players. They also wear more protective equipment - which makes the sport more dangerous, not less.
"In rugby you don't play with helmets, there are no pads, you can't possibly inflict the type of bodily damage that you can in football when you're in the armour," says Frank Deford. He believes that if American football players wore pads that more closely resembled rugby gear, there might me fewer injuries.

hahahah too easy to say that when you have so much padding plus helmet u look like ur inside a tank. I think theyd run like scared cats once taken outside their protective shell the first time they faced the All Blacks, Springboks or Wallabies.

Ya - u guessed it - my family r rugby fanatics. My dad is not that strict unless the rugby is on...then everyone concerned has to shhhhhh - and heaven help u if u say something while the Kiwi Haka is on (and he is a wallaby supporter)

And Ive seen american football...hu hup...5 seconds play....stop...lunch break to discuss....change players...another discussion re what to do next....ad break.....ok lets go....5 seconds play....discussion - u get the picture

Rugby 40 mins before u get your first break. and they dont wear those sumo suits that the US players do

PLUS its actually an international sport not a sport between local clubs so the skill level is immensely higher

haha Ok dont hurt me I know Im being cheeky and inciting a riot lol :)

It's easy to say football players would run in the sight of a rugby player; however, since American football started with no padding I think it is safe to say they wouldn't run...

The sport got bigger padding as it got more violent, and then needed bigger padding, and it got more violent and created a chain reaction...

Also take note: The biggest injury in rugby is spinal injury from compression of the spine when you hit someone... In football those pads do not make the compression less... But in all actuality since they can hit harder with pads: that compression is more violent. Not to mention head an neck injuries that are not found in rugby...

To say that rugby players are more tough because they don't wear pads is very silly... American football has drastically more injuries than rugby. (Even with all the padding). The reasoning for this is because the padding does not make it safer but more dangerous... When you have a more dangerous sport you get more dangerous people...

For instance, it's like saying boxing is safer with gloves... To someone who has never boxed it might seem like a reasonable assertion. However, if you have boxed you know that without gloves you cannot hit the persons temple without braking your hand, with a glove you can. This allows you to hit harder and in places where you could not hit before, making the sport more violent and dangerous than it was.

It is a well established fact that padding makes a sport more violent and dangerous, and a more violent and dangerous sport breeds more dangerous and violent people...
This padding helps the hitter and hurts the hittee. Since the bones in a man's head are stronger than the bones in a man's fists, a bare-knuckle fighter risks damaging himself more than his opponent if he hits as hard as he can when he aims punches at the head. Unless he has unusually brittle hands, a boxer whose fists are protected by cushions has no such inhibitions. He can hit to the head with full force without much risk of injuring his hands—and so add to the number of boxers who end up on the slab or with pugilistica dementia.

I am a Bok fan and the "second best" team must be the All Blacks (see you in the semi's Missy :p).

I tried to watch American football but it was S-L-O-W and boring :) sorry American friends... the padding makes these guys delusional and rugby is a lot more physical.

What is always fascinating to me is how American Sports can describe themselves as "World champions" but they are the only country playing that sport... Maybe the world revolve around American sport :p (just kidding American friends ;))

Your trying hard to convince yourself about those sumo suits they wear aren't u... trouble is the average tackle count for American football per player per game is just under 4..... its gonna embarrass u when u google the rugby tackle count........ plus oops we lost the ball...lets now all go off for a lunch break n let the DEFENSIVE team come on....wat da!!!...... Plus really - The US play this at a local club level - I mean cmon rugby is a serious international sport played nation v nation so its a serious sport not just a local thing.........hahaha I'm sorry T_laurich I'm just enjoying teasing u. Don't take it seriously - I know americans like that sport - I'm just being an evil teen :)
