(John 7,37-38) Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.( Rev 22,1-2) see also Ezekiel 47,1-12 The number eight symbolises a new beginning. The eighth day of the week is the day after Sabbath. Now the work starts anew. On this day of the week, Jesus did rise from the dead. With HIM, God did create something new:
But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. (1.Corinthians 15,20)
The number of the name Jesus (Greek ΙΗΣΟΥΣ) is 888. After a (Jewish) tradition, the Messiah shall come for the seventh millennium (according Jewish calendar), and establish the „Sabbath", the Kingdom of peace, which will last for thousand years. (Revelation 20). Afterwards, on the eighth day, there will follow something new:
Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. (Isaiah 65,17) see also Rev 21

good summation. Jesus partially fulfilled this with his resurrection. And he will fulfill again when he returns And this return will be celebrated by the world when they once a year go to jeruslaem to honor jesus in worship. (those NATIONS who do not will not receive rain)

Feast of Tabernacles

the seventh chapter of John describes what Jesus said and did during the Feast of Tabernacles.
The Feast of Tabernacles is seven days long—it is to picture the comming Millennium.

Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were merely heirs when they dwelled on Earth (Hebrews 11:9).

While heirs they dwelled in tabernacles, or booths, sojourning in the land of promise.
Booths, or temporary dwellings, pictured that they were not yet inheritors.

That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths,
when I brought them out of the land of Egypt…” (Leviticus 23:42-43

God says of Ephraim in the future that they will “dwell in tabernacles,
as in the days of the solemn feast” (Hosea 12:9)

They were wanderers, waiting to inherit the promises of salvation.
He will gather the nations before Him and say: “Inherit the kingdom” (Matthew 25:34).

>>>>They were wanderers, waiting to inherit the promises of salvation.
He will gather the nations before Him and say: “Inherit the kingdom” (Matthew 25:34).<<<

Good point:)

We begin, and we will see how far this goes.

"Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the Lord." Leviticus 23:34

1[SUP]st[/SUP] day=15[SUP]th[/SUP] of the month Numbers 29:12-16 (KJV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And on the fifteenth day of the seventh month ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work, and ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days:
[SUP]13 [/SUP]And ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD; thirteen young bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year; they shall be without blemish:
[SUP]14 [/SUP]And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals unto every bullock of the thirteen bullocks, two tenth deals to each ram of the two rams,
[SUP]15 [/SUP]And a several tenth deal to each lamb of the fourteen lambs:
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And one kid of the goats for a sin offering; beside the continual burnt offering, his meat offering, and his drink offering.

Before going into what is the big “deal” I quote Numbers 29:1-4. “And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you. And ye shall offer a burnt offering for a sweet savour unto the LORD; one young bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first year without blemish: And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals for a bullock, and two tenth deals for a ram, And one tenth deal for one lamb, throughout the seven lambs:”

The quantities of flour mixed with oil are “deals?” What a deal, or what is a deal? So I compared scripture with scripture, and came to some conclusions. Through prayer and meditation, I am getting closer to the truth. I’m sure there is much more than we will ever understand as long as we live in this mortal body.

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 13:12; “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” (Got that right!)

I thought that the men who translated the Bible into English during the reign of King James might have thought that the quantities of flour were no big “deal.” It actually made me a little disgusted. I found another scripture referenced in Leviticus 6:20-21 that helped, and found that the “deal” really was a bigger “deal” than what I first estimated. It reads as follows;

“This is the offering of Aaron and of his sons, which they shall offer unto the LORD in the day when he is anointed; *the tenth part of an “ephah” of fine flour for a meat offering perpetual, half of it in the morning, and half thereof at night. In a pan it shall be made with oil; and when it is baken, thou shalt bring it in: and the baken pieces of the meat offering shalt thou offer for a sweet savour unto the LORD.”

By understanding that ten percent of an “ephah” is not the full “deal,” the answer is found in Exodus 16:36 where it says “*Now an “omer” is the *tenth part of an “ephah.”
So we know that a "deal" is an omer. It gets very interesting. As defined here next, you will see that this word, "omer" is a Hebrew word is attributed to God's word, being "omer."

"The Lord gave the word: (Omer) great was the company of those that published it." Psalm 68:11

562 'omer o'-mer the same as 561:--promise, speech, thing, word.

Is this not really cool so far?

In theses festivals Jesus has fulfilled the 4out of the7.....tabernacle yet to be fufiled.

Israel to date has 9 they added 2 but not given by God.

An eyphah/ephah is a measure of grain equaling close to a bushel, and is actually a dry measure in general. It is an Egyptian derivative, and according to the Hebrew language, this word was derived from the act of harvesting wheat. Keep in mind that ten omers makes one ephah, and the ten commandments would be likened unto one ephah, and omer being the "word" of God in Psalm 68:11, defined in my previous post #45.

Knowing that God gives the increase, the farmer cut the sheaves of grain, and raises them to heaven, thanking God for the sustenance. Now a certain amount of seed is needed for the next years planting, but that was up to the farmer’s discretion, and would have nothing to do with saving a certain amount so as to give his/her ten percent. When reading about the tenth deal/ephah, our minds will think about tithing ten percent of our income. That concept is truth in part, but by no means is the complete picture, for tithing has more to do with governing with equity, which cannot be likened unto the equality that the United States federal government endorses with rhetoric. “Federal intelligence” is an oxymoron, and God’s government is the proper balance of perfect equity.

Now the word “tithe” means to accumulate but is only used in reference to self-denial as a denominative of ten, denoting responsibility as Deuteronomy 14:22 points out. “Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.”

There is a subtle difference between “tenth” and “tithe” according to the Hebrew language. The tenth deals for the Bullock, ram, and lambs add the seed/son/heir to the tithe so that the plan of salvation established in the beginning will continue to the end. So in the seventh month God gave to us a commission, and then added Jesus, the son of man, to that responsibility, enabling our tithe to continue with the seed.

In theses festivals Jesus has fulfilled the 4out of the7.....tabernacle yet to be fufiled.

Israel to date has 9 they added 2 but not given by God.

Tabernacles is a rehearsal for the millennium. It is not fulfilled yet. That is correct. I'll get to the rehearsal part in time as long as people seem to be interested. The church of today should be teaching this. In many ways they are, but might be failing in making a clear connection.

IMHO, the Jewish feasts given to Israel do not apply to the Church (from Pentecost in Acts to the Rapture). Following the rapture those Feasts may once again have some significance as God begins re-dealing with mainly Israel as He did in days of old.

If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
(Heb 7:11-12)

I certainly agree that observance of the appointed times of Israel are not requited of the Church. I do not fully agree that they do dot apply to the Church; because understanding their significance contributes much to understanding the life and earthly ministry of Jesus.

John 1:14
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
KJV

the Word is Jesus

dwelt ( ἐσκήνωσεν ) litterally means tented or tabernacled. In the NT, the Sukkot is referred to as the feast of Tabernacles. the intent is a temporary dwelling.

As Jesus' body is referred to as a temporary dwelling; we,as believers should think of our physical bodies as temporary dwellings--hence reminding ourselves that our permanent home is in heaven with Jesus.

Sukkot is referred to as a time of in-gathering of the harvest (Dt 16:13). Throughout the Gospels, Believers are referred to as God's harvest.

Thank you Kohen.... kinda makes me want to move to colorado;)

Sukkot is observed for seven days commencing on the 15th of Ethanim. Today (9/14/2015) is the first day of Ethanim.

Today is Yom Terruach (the Day of Blowing Trumpets). It is often called (IMO improperly) Rosh HaShannah (First of the Year).

In Exo 12:2, the month oh the Passover is called by God the beginning of months; and in Deu 16:1 the month of the Passover is called, by God, Abib.

So to revere the Word of God as I ought, I will concede that an “omer” is a big deal even though it’s only ten percent of the “deal”, and not less in the spiritual meaning of the offering. In order to understand the significance of the flour and oil mixed together, plus the quantities enlisted for these certain offerings, each letter of the Hebrew word must be investigated to understand its characteristics.

Beginning at the harvesting of the barley, and/or wheat, after threshing, it is needful for the seed to be separated from its outer layer known as chaff. Stripping and chipping harvested seeds, separates the center of the seed from the outer shell by beating of the seeds with a stick or some other type of tool, shaking, and sifting them in a sifter in the wind. Then the seed is ground into powder with stones until “fine flour” is the result.

(Strong’s 5560) The word “coleth” pronounced “so-leth” is the Hebrew word for flour, and from defining each letter, we can see a spiritual meaning of signs and monuments of completion denoting crossed sticks pointing in all directions of the compass. This word is related to the word selah meaning to pause, and weigh the meaning of a song or the reading of the Word. The four directions in the crossed sticks links a physical parable with true spiritual aspects that are taught by the shepherd’s staff to rescue, and rod of guidance. This is clear when reading Psalm 23:4b “thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” With that, we read in Isaiah 53:5; “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

This sacrifice of Christ relates to the beating that separates. Jesus also said that He is “the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst” written in John 6:35.

This statement also represents the grinding, and refining the core of the seed into flour. Going further into the depth of meaning by describing the meaning of the quantity of flour used, and what that represents spiritually, an “omer” is one tenth “deal” and a “deal” is an “ephah.” With that, I have to mention Numbers 28:4-5, which is the correct ratio, even though it is not mentioned in the feast of tabernacles per se.

The measurements are consistent. So quoting; “The one lamb shalt thou offer in the morning, and the other lamb shalt thou offer at even; And a tenth part of an ephah of flour for a meat offering, mingled with the fourth part of an hin of beaten oil.”

I also feel it necessary to be redundant concerning the offerings made during the feast of tabernacles, by quoting Numbers 29:3-4. “And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals for a bullock, and two tenth deals for a ram, and one tenth deal for one lamb, throughout the seven lambs.”

This establishes the quantities for each animal offered from the first day of the feast (which is the 15th day) through, and including the 21st day of the seventh month. The spiritual meaning of the “Omer” (Strong’s 6016) is to watch, and know that the blood, and water are mighty from the beginning. We are to continue as an heir of this promise or covenant, as it was from the beginning.

Here I end the meaning of the omer.

Bullock omers

And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals unto every bullock of the thirteen bullocks, two tenth deals to each ram of the two rams, Numbers 29:14

The question I had was; why are three tenths of an ephah offered with the Bullock being the representation of the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ?

I begin with Deuteronomy 14:28-29 where it says; “At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates: And the Levite, (because he has no part nor inheritance with you),and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within your gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.”

According to the commandments of God, the farmers were to bring their tithes that they had accumulated into the city/town closest to their area. In the course of three years God gave abundant increase to the crops and livestock. At the end of three years the farmer had more than enough to sustain the family, and ten percent of that accumulation was hauled to the town, and distributed to the needy by the Levites living there.

The Levitical tribe was not given an inheritance of land, but was to administer the ordinances of God, governing Israel according to the law. For a more complete picture of this perfect welfare system I present Deuteronomy 26:12-13. “When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled; Then thou shalt say before the LORD thy God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of mine house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them.”

This is in direct relation to James 1:27 “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

So relating this to Jesus Christ, I will start by quoting a scripture that He quoted from Isaiah 61:1 that is in Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”

Therefore, in reality, Jesus’ public ministry was this three-year tithe mentioned in the law that was recorded in Deuteronomy. According to John 2:11-13, right after Jesus turned the water into wine at the marriage feast, “This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him. After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days. And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.” So my conjecture is that He began his public ministry on the 14th day of the first month, exactly three years (to the day) previous to His own death. Jesus distributes His three-year tithe according to these statutes.

I am somewhat surprised there is so little interest in the feast since we are approaching that time of year and knowing the importance it bears for the 1000 year millennial reign. Aren't Christians in here interested in their future with Christ - their future told in the Bible with undeniable, unarguable substance? Things like 'when is the rapture going to happen' and such are debatable as they are subject to 'interpretation' and I won't go any further with that thought.

Guests have been reading this thread, so if even one person is edified in the truth of Jesus Christ, it is worth it.

The summary of the flour, as it is mentioned in the OT law concerned the temple, sacrifice, and the priesthood seems to clearly represent the Word of God given to us in precise segments according to God's foreknowledge as to what we can, and desire to pursue with sincerity. Ask and He will provide.

Isaiah 28:9-13
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
[SUP]11 [/SUP]For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
[SUP]13[/SUP]But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

Israel wound up not wanting it either. That's why the first covenant failed and was classified as weak.

According to Paul, in Romans 5:2, the grace of God comes to us by His gift of faith. “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

Paul uses himself as an example when he describes a situation of being jerked around by the minister of Satan. In 2 Corinthians 12:8-9 he writes; “For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

In the Complete Jewish Bible John 5:7-8 says “There are three witnesses -the Spirit, the water and the blood - and these three are in agreement.” I used that reference to avert any discrepancy that the KJV might produce in our minds.

We can also compare these three omers ( referring to post 52 ) with Isaiah 6:3 that says; “And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, (three times) is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.”

Jesus describes this principle in Matthew 13:33b revealing to us that; “The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.” see post 55

Three is a profound number illustrating repentance in the story of Jonah, for he spent three days, and three nights in the belly of the big fish, and finally went to Nineveh and his ministry caused them to have a repentant heart. Last, but certainly not least, Jesus spent three days and three nights in the tomb.

It is His words of grace, (all of His words), His gift of faith to those that believe in His words of grace, and the giving of His own Father's Spirit at Pentecost, causing us to remember His spoken words that gives us hope, and are all united together as three "omers", in the Almighty’s divine completeness of God's perfection.
