14. And he called to him the multitude again, and said unto them, Hear me all of you, and understand: 15. there is nothing from without the man, that going into him can defile him; but the things which proceed out of the man are those that defile the man. 16. If any man hath ears to hear, let him hear. (Mark 7:14-16)

20. And he said, That which proceedeth out of the man, that defileth the man. 21. For from within, out of the heart of men, evil thoughts proceed, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, 22. covetings, wickednesses, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, railing, pride, foolishness: 23. all these evil things proceed from within, and defile the man. (Mark 7:20-23)

So all wrongness will defileth the man.

Those acts and deeds are of a lost man who have not come to Christ for atonement of Sin. The Apostles Paul said that there is no good thing within us.

Christ live inside of the Christian and have cleanse and purified the heart (soul). Yes, we can have bad thought and we can sin, but we are not defiled, we just get dirty and the blood of Jesus has to wash us clean again.

Hope this helps.

Lost man - defiled, can help self

Christian - dirty, get clean by the word of God and ask for cleaning by the blood daily.

Yes sin deflith a man, but how does God cleansth him?

God says come and reason with me, that though we are scarlet with sin, He was wash us clean as new fallen snow.

Christ atoning sacrifice. That is the true Gospel message. Without it men would truly despair.

Ariel, sin does not defile a Christian. If Christ lives within a Christ and are sealed by the Holy Spirit they can not be defiled. :)

The thrust of what Jesus is saying to the crowd is that the Pharisees blamed their own sin on external causes. Jesus is saying no, you sin because you are a sinner.

It is important that those bad thought's do not lead us, that we are not slaves of evilness, but that we can resist the evil.

Physical food goes into the body and and provides nutrition to the body and then excreted but what comes out of a man's mouth is what defiles because those things show what's in the persons heart.

It's talking about people before they knew Christ or truly repented of the sins.

God also says not to use God grace as a license to sin. Only God can judge who is and isn't his child, but I would warn those who do not feel deep sorrow about any sin in their life to examine their hearts and ask themselves if they have truly given their lives and hearts to God.
