Then you do not have eternal life. Its all a sham. God lied, and lets all go back to sin and living it up. For we have no hope.
That's absurd and so contradicts what scripture says. The spirit is eternal life and the spirit dwells within me by virtue of the new covenant.

Actually, a body does work to stay alive. If a body stops working it will die. And it takes work to keep a body functioning properly.

Yep.

And who keeps alive? God or us??

Thank you for hopefully giving God credit, and not giving a sinful body credit.

That's correct that we can't do anything to work for eternal life (it is a gift), but once we have it we can (must) work to insure that we abide in it. Much scripture has to be ignored to deny this. Unfortunately, that seems to be what a lot of people do.

That is different than beginning in the spirit, but perfecting in the flesh is it not?

God did not give us a down payment, And say here is my gift, Now work to keep it or I will take my GIFT away (you do realise what bad a light that makes God out to be do you not?)

one who says something God calls eternal is not eternal is not only in denial. But Calls our lord and savior a liar and deciever.
Where did I ever say the life that has been given to us is not eternal? I didn't. What I have been saying is that man can walk away from that life and no longer abide in it. If a man decides that he loves the spirit of the world more than the spirit of life GOD is not going to stop him from what he chooses to do.

Yep and the spirit is said to be given to us as a guarantee until the day of redemption.

So why do you have him possibly breaking that seal if we do not live up to some standard? When God said it is his gift, hus guarantee and his seal.

You still having him giving you and I something he said was eternal in duration, and taking it back, making not eternal. Meaning he lied when he called it eternal.

We are still in the womb..,to abide we only need to trust in God work in us. We get new bodies, true eternal life when we die physically.,,so we are fetus. We smile, song with our father, talk to our siblings still in the womb.

What other things would you have us do to abide in him?

Every time you say it can be lost Because if it is can be lost, it is NOT ETERNAL.

I didn't. What I have been saying is that man can walk away from that life and no longer abide in it. If a man decides that he loves the spirit of the world more than the spirit of life GOD is not going to stop him from what he chooses to do.
It does not matter what the condition is.

Something that is called eternal which can be lost, is not eternal period. the person who gave that to you, Lied to you.

John 6:
[SUP]35 [/SUP]And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. [SUP]36 [/SUP]But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. [SUP]37 [/SUP]All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. [SUP]38 [/SUP]For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. [SUP]39 [/SUP]This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. [SUP]40 [/SUP]And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

[SUP]47 [/SUP]Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me[SUP][g][/SUP] has everlasting life. [SUP]48 [/SUP]I am the bread of life. [SUP]49 [/SUP]Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. [SUP]50 [/SUP]This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. [SUP]51 [/SUP]I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”

Sure sounds like eternal to me.. People who claim salvation can be lost call Jesus a liar here, If eternal life can be lost. NOTHING jesus said in john 6 has any value, or meaning, they are useless words. Because he lied.

"By no means cast out." So how do people get the idea that Jesus will cut us off and let us burn if we don't produce fruit? Hm... something doesn't align there, someone is misreading the point of the parable or something.

Is eternal eternal. or did God lie?

Mortality has nothign to do with it, He never promised we would never die physically, It is eternal spiritual life he is talking about. A relationship with hinm, which will not be broken by even physical death.
Death lost its sting, because it has no power over the children of God.

Unless salvation is not assured, then it has power.
Salvation is assured if we persist in the faith. To say otherwise is to exalt the tenets of Calvinism over the witness of scripture.

I did not even post it all..

[SUP]53 [/SUP]Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. [SUP]54 [/SUP]Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. [SUP]55 [/SUP]For My flesh is food indeed,[SUP][h][/SUP] and My blood is drink indeed. [SUP]56 [/SUP]He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. [SUP]57 [/SUP]As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. [SUP]58 [/SUP]This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”

So this is not the same abiding they like to speak of. This is eating the food which endures forever, where one will ea atnd never hunger, thirst or die.. The type of abiding where as long as Jesus is, we will be also.

That's nonsensical logic. If someone gives you something that is eternal and you throw it away, what you were given is still eternal, but you don't have it anymore.

I am not a calvanist. I am a I follow jesus not some man who is not perfect.

Jesus said we will live forever. End of story.

Dude, If you have true faith in Christ, YOU WILL NEVER LOSE FAITH.

Do not tell me I will lose faith in a God who will neg=ver let me down, I may waver in faithlessness. But Jesus said even then, He will remain fasithful

Yuo argument is with him. Tell him why you reject his grace gift, and try to earn it.

Are you SERIOUS!? That is some GOOD NEWS! Did I just read that to abide in Christ is to eat His flesh and drink His blood? You mean to say that sinning has nothing to do with abiding in Christ? Its all about belief in Jesus Christ? This almost sounds too good to be true. But, it sounds wonderful!

lol.. So I can rip the HS out of my body, and throw him out. (as if I would ever want to since God NEVER LETS ME DOWN)

Again, YOU GIVE YOURSELF WAY TO MUCH CREDIT. You give yourself more power than God.

How can that Be. I follow John, who wrote john 3, John 5, John 6. And the epistle. who told me I have eternal life, and he wrote all those things so I can make sure I am assured of it, Because unless I know I HAVE eternal life, I will not continue to believe in him.

As for calvin, As far as I know. I have never read or studied a word he wrote. Unless he wrote scripture?

Yuo do not believe that because maybe you do not have eternal life?

I agree completely. All I'm saying is that trust in GOD requires our active participation, which is work. There is nothing else to do but love our fellow man.

This is the work of God: that you believe into the one [the father] set apart. John 6:29

I disagree with your use of the word work but it's alright. Might be a language barrier thing.

In that Bible verse it says "the work of God" not men or believers.

Active participation...i smile when my kids play, dance and love one another but won't disown them if they fight or throw a fit.instead I would charted them into repentance but they are still my kids.

We are still God's kids even when we fight but He will charge those disobedient ones.

Jesus was responding to a group of people who asked Jesus what they could do to do the works of GOD, not what GOD could do for them.

Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.

Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?

Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” John 6:27-29

It is men who believe, not GOD, so it is man's work.
