I have to admit Im a summer person,or at least a warm weather person.I start to get in a seasonal depression when the time changes and the cool weather starts.I decorated the house for fall early this year to try and get use to the season before it changed. So does anyone get the seasonal blues? Any ways you deal with it? Favorite recipes that you make this time of year? I must say I love fall colors and scenes, just not the cold weather. This weekend reminded me how beautiful fall can be....

we love all of the seasons - somehow is seems as though Jesus is telling us to look,
I have made all if this for you, find the beauty, the smell, the feeling on your skin,
these seasons are special gifts that I have made just for you, let yourself love them as I do.....

That sounds like me. I love the sunshine and hot weather; I'm always in a better mood. Cool weather and gray skies is just.. blah. I love Halloween though, so all of the decorations, candy, movies on tv, etc. is great :D after that I just endure until the new year lol.

Yes! I grew up in Canada and then moved south. I like snow for Christmas then get rid of it. The cold and dark days make me feel down. I think I could live in the sun all year and just go north for December and back to warmth again. I'd love fall if spring followed instead of winter.lol Fall colors are really beautiful.

Depression? Heck no. We don't have much for seasons here as far as the climate goes, so the cooler weather, at the very least, is a nice change. I think I sentimentalize Autumn/Fall and Winter, though.

We dont have bad winters here, not compared to Canada.Maybe Im getting old fast.lol The cold weather just seems to go right though me. I love spring/summer and even fall because it stays warm here most of the fall. But the days getting dark so early, not a fan. :(

Living in Scotland means it is grey and rainy all year round :p
I think we had about a week of what I'd consider warm enough (and sunny enough) to be summer. Last week was still quite warm, but it is getting dark (I hate getting up while it's still dark!)

what I do? Hmmm.

I try to get a bit of sunlight every day, which gets difficult at the darkest season if one works indoors.

I burn a lot of candles and listen to music
I try to write... stuff...
I hide under a blanket and drink tea (and read books, lots of books)
When winter arrives I go for a walk while the snow is new and undisturbed

I get seasonal blues. I call and visit friends and family. Open blinds, curtains in house to bring in any light from outside. Even if it is gray outside. Make sure there is peppy music. Not vocal. Just instruments. Or have TV on. Watch travel shows. The earth tones of fall tend to be a bit on the gloomy side when there are too many.
Brighten things up with a small plant that has color in it. Even a fake plant will do.

I don't know. But people's emotions and feelings differ. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for another.

The world is giving you cold and earth tones this time of year. Look through books that have colorful pictures. Travel magazines.

But then don't fight the blues. Use them to learn about yourself. Write. Try to write a story or some other creative form of writing.

Fall depression???

I've been waiting for fall all year.

Deer hunting and Elk hunting are the highlights of the whole year.

Then there's pheasants, goose, duck and turkey if you're not into big game. But how could you not be into big game???

winter in the UK is just a long fall :p :D

I think it's more winter months for me, honestly. NY gets it pretty cold. I love warm weather and being able to go out and do things. Typically, depending on the weather during winter, we can't go out and do much. Fall is one of my favorites, though. I love fall activities (apple picking, photography, etc.).

If fall is hard for you, I suggest you try to have fun. I think it's normal for people to go through these different depression phases in different seasons. Maybe go apple picking, do something on Halloween, go on a nature walk, go out with friends/family.

My friends and I did a photoshoot one year during fall before winter came and it's one of my favorite memories. :)

I would love to visit Scotland, all the history. It looks beautiful in movies. Those are all good ideas to beat seasonal blues. When I decorated for fall I made sure I had lots of things that light up. At least it makes it cheery when it gets dark and dreary.

Thank you those are great ideas also! Does writing on CC count?! lol I do like taking photos,as you can see,I was thinking I should blow them up and put them on the wall.Maybe that would be cheery, depending on the cost to do it.lol
