What about the innocent American, Chinese, and those innocent people of the Philippines, does your heart bleed to them. Because of those two bomb's so much more innocent's were saved, would you reverse it, you over zealish passivist.
The good of the many out weight the good of the few.

We had to persuade them to stop, and we couldn't get near Tokyo with all the anti-aircraft guns, Zeros (fighter planes) and ship guns. There was so many lives saved.

War is hell and in every war there is innocent casualties, if we can't except that, we would never win a war, we would be defeated.

By June 1945, almost the entire Japanese Navy had been destroyed, as had the Japanese air-force. The Superfortress bomb raids on Tokyo combined with the others in the month's previous to the nukes, had absolutely decimated Japan's civilian and military presence. By August, when the nukes fell, Japan had already been well and truly beaten.

The nukes were nothing more than a bragging right that gave the Americans the power to enforce heavy-handed terms of surrender; dropping them was by no rational measure "necessary".

This is utter American apologist lies. "We couldn't get near Tokyo". In May 1945, three months before the nukes, the biggest air raid of the entire Pacific Front took place over Tokyo, when 520 Allied B-29 bombers dropped 4,500 tons of incendiaries on the city centre. The war was already won. The nukes were the equivalent of stuffing a hand grenade in a dying horse's mouth.

Hindsight is always perfectly 20/20 and it's so easy to say "they should have done this."

I'm so glad I'm not the president, a military commander or anybody famous. It would be like trying to drive a bus where every passenger has a brake. And then they all criticize you for not getting anywhere.

from my understanding the American, Chinese, Philippines innocent lives lost were killed by soldiers fighting other soldiers in war zones. soldiers almost never target civilians and in most cases its not a deliberate act . this dont make it right when they die and its still very shameful. on the other hand, the bombs were very very very different. those leaders (not common soldiers) making the decision to drop them, knew good and well that most of the lives lost would be civilians.

The good of the many out weight the good of the few.
this philosophy would mean the rights of the individual are nothing if they oppose the group. or would this be"majority rules" ? the best example of majority rules would be a lynch mob. we had those in the past and i dont think they worked out so well.

i agree, war is hell. i personally dont believe they are necessary. the people that declare the wars never fight in them, the wealthy get rich off of them and the poor folks that fight, the best they can benefit is to come home alive.
i say let the rich go fight their own wars, or at least make it mandatory they serve on the front lines, that would make any war over and done with before the first shot was fired.

This.

If George Bush and Tony Blair, Barrack Obama and David Cameron, their sons and daughters, and the Kings and Queens and heads-of-states in Europe, and Putins and Hu-Jintaos and Hassan Rouhanis and whomever else, had to go train for 6 months and stand on the front lines themselves, war really would be a last resort.

I agree but sadly that will never happen. all of their wealth, power and influence is made off the sweat and hardship of the masses, the same masses they send to the fronts to lose their lives. yet every time they stand up and give a speech so many stand and cheer.

you need to do more research then...iran had or has its tentacles in lebanon...iraq...egypt...yemen...bahrain...sudan...and more... basically you can look at just about any trouble spot in the middle east and find iran there...

i dont believe that but lets just say you are right, what benefit would Iran have to interfere in any of those governments? and if they did have involvement, what changed? i see no benefit and no change.
here is an example of what i mean: usa/cuba/castro. we are told castro was a dirty rotten scumbag dictator, but what a sec, before castro cuba already had a dirty rotten scumbag dictator, batista. usa had no problem with batista, why? batasta opened the gates of cuba to us industry, the wealth was exported out, the people starved to death. castro kicked out the wealthy corporations, nationalized them, set up social programs to help the people. and for this we went to war with castro because you do not mess with USA, or the rich corporations anyway.
show me an example of Iran doing this to another country.
