In the American League, Houston travels to New York Tuesday for the Wild Card Game. Winner heads to Kansas City Thursday to play the Royals in a best-of-five AL Division Series, while Texas travels to Toronoto, also Thursday, for the other best-of-five Division Series. The winners will play in the ALCS. KC has home field advantage by virtue of the best record in the AL, and the AL champion will have the home field in the World Series, as the AL won the All-Star game.

In the National, there's an oddball situation in that, of the teams with the three best records in baseball, two of them play in the Wild Card Game Wednesday -- the Cubs and the Pirates -- and the winner faces the team with the best record -- the St. Louis Cardinals, who have home field advantage through the NLCS -- in one NL Division Series, starting Friday. The Mets and Dodgers play the other Division Series, with the winners playing in the NLCS.

The two league champions determined in the league championship series play in the World Series.

Here's the whole schedule from Fox Sports.

OK, I'm prejudiced, but I think it's Kansas City and St. Louis in the World Series. Both have good solid starting pitching, both are among the top defensive teams in baseball -- only the pitiful Padres have a better defensive-runs-saved stat than the Royals -- and everybody (in Missouri) wants another I-70 Series.

Your turn.

I am hoping for a Royals and Cardinals I-70 rematch !!!

With that being said the road in the playoffs for the Royals is no easy task even with the home field advantage.

All four teams have beaten the Royals more then they have beaten them in the regular season:

Houston (Royals won 2 - Astros won 4)

New York (Royals won 2 - Yankees won 4)

Texas (Royals won 3 - Rangers won 4)

Toronto (Royals won 3 - Blue Jays won 4)

I think a Royals-Cardinals World Series would be awesome, but as a long-time Cubs fan, I'm not hoping for that lol.

I'll go with:

Yankees(experience) over Astros & Cubs(Arrieta) over Pirates in the Wild-Card games.
Royals over Yankees and Blue Jays over Rangers in the ALDS.
Cardinals over Cubs and Mets over Dodgers in the NLDS.
Royals over Blue Jays and Mets over Cardinals in the league championships.

And I'll take the Royals over the Mets in the World Series.

There was no MLB this year. The Phillies never did show up, so we just dismissed baseball from our minds back in May. When the Phillies start getting good again, MLB is back to being something worth watching.

And sadly, I'm beginning to think there is no NFL this year because the Eagles are just as bad. I'm tempted to become a Green Bay fan, but I fear if I do that, they lose the rest of their games this year.

I'm not really a sports fan. I'm a Philadelphia sports fan. Not a very good pastime in this city in the last couple of years and it looks like it will be worse before it gets better.

The Royals had a tough time with the Blue Jays during the season, they are a very good team, but I have to say go Royals!!!

How 'bout them Cubbies?!

My sole prediction: if the Cubs beat the Cardinals, they go all the way.
