Why Christians Absolutely Should Not Celebrate Halloween — Charisma Magazine

I was not aware until now that it is wrong to celebrate, especially in the country i live in, during all souls day family goes together to cemetry to visit their dead love ones, i am not sure with other culture though, but the blogger said that, it is wrong for a christian to get involves in A halloween party, like dressing up and stuff.

Well i am just curious ...

This is just a debate topic. Along with other holidays like Christmas and Easter. Some will have you ready to be sent to hell for participating. Others will say it doesn't matter. So don't come looking for clarity.

I celebrate Halloween and I love it :D. I see absolutely nothing wrong with what Halloween is today in the ''commercial" sense.. dressing up, parties, taking kids trick-or-treating, etc. It's harmless and fun.

But, like Ugly said, everyone is going to have their own opinion and that's fine. I think at the end of the day, you just have to decide for yourself and listen to your own convictions on the matter. :p

setapartgirl: This thread topic is one that comes up multiple times every year and nobody ever gets anything resolved. (But at least people are more polite about it here in CC Singles... man, the yelling people do at each other in the BDF over this topic, you wouldn't believe it!) I'm afraid you are on your own with this. Best you're going to get on a forum is "Ask your pastor" but you already knew that was coming, right? ;)

In the meantime I would like to say I hate Halloween. The candy is all far too low-res for any serious enjoyment. Now at Christmas, then is when they put out some good stuff. But Halloween is all snickers, smarties, suckers. Forget it.

Being that the site is called charisma magazine, if I was interested enough to do the research I could probably tie it into the charismatic movement at which point it becomes a joke of a site for me, and the articles pure satire.

Well, I guess it's beneficial to point out that where we come from, Setapartgirl, Halloween is celebrated differently. Our people prepare meals to be sacrificed to the dead. That really isn't Christian at all. I don't know how Halloween is celebrated in other countries, but in our case, I just don't think it's biblical at all. I've seen my neighbours make replicas of dead people hanging on trees, making bonfires around them and stuff. That, I have to say, is evil. I'm saying the 'act' itself is evil. Whatever it's origin is it just doesn't look right to me. But that's just me. Halloween for the rest of the world appears to be different, they get to do trick or treating and fun stuff. But as I grew up without celebrating Halloween, I don't think I ever will.

Halloween here means children go out and knock on doors and get free candy. If you're good at it - and if you plan ahead and use some strategy - you can get a lot of free candy in one night.

But alas, none of it is really good. Strictly check-out counter candy.
