Try this:
On the upper right toolbar, go to <SETTINGS>
Then select <GENERAL SETTINGS>
Scroll down to <MISCELLANIOUS> (near the bottom)
Change your first option under that heading to <STANDARD EDITOR>
I think I got all those titles correct, but you will get the idea. Getting off of the setting (make it lower than), WYSIWYG in the Text Editor often helps a myriad of problems.

My IE 11.0.9xxx doesn't have a settings tool... got internet options but that's a whole different menu tree than you describe.
Besides, I never changed any settings why would it suddenly be different than before? Other than the fact that pretty much all technology only serves to complicate my life...

IE 11 sucks. I have mine turned off. Are you on Windows 10? If so then you need to download their new browser, "Edge". It's basically IE with a different name. I still have Windows 7 and my browser is Opera.

please...ditch IE...Mr Gates is ditching it and so should you
download chrome or firefox

I've tried chrome and firefox, had no luck with them. Chrome, upon opening, would give me 100 messages about how it couldn't open my profile, firefox keeps giving me messages about how websites I do business on isn't compatible.
I'm telling ya, these things hate me. When I went to the doctor on Monday, as soon as they typed my name in their whole system crashed.

Hey, let's start a club. We can help people foolproof their systems by making them crash every time they think they fixed 'em
lol, I have that ability as well....crash computers just by touching them, and family members have accidentally caused a stores entire system to crash just by ordering something.....I use to have the chrome popup a lot as well and firefox went crazy on me after a certain update. I found a lesser known browser called pale moon that is based off of the more stable version of firefox and actually seems to work a lot better. I have never had a problem with pale moon.....
Well dang, Ricky.Download Opera browser. I use it and I love it.
I liked opera until it caused my computer to overheat and burn my leg.....Does opera do that to your computer as well, or was it just me? Other than that I had no problem with opera and liked it.
Can I join, I am known for finding bugs?....I once caused my entire computer to crash while just looking at 1 picture from my picture folder.....
A picture of my grandparents that I had just taken a couple days before that....a normal picture that has never affected my computer before or since....
Opera works just fine and I love it.
I do 99% of my stuff on it. I only use FF for finding photos, editing photos and downloading programs.

I'm not a tech, but I prob know more than the average person
have you considered you might have some uncomplimentry software that has found its way into your pc?
add-ons, spyware, things like that can give false messages
you are also running an outdated os...windows 7...all those things add up and create problems
won't be long and you won't be finding support for anything you are running!
it's not a question of luck at all...and it's not just yr browser either from the sounds of it...when was the last time you defragmented yr hard drive?
later model os systems defragment all the time, but I think 7 needs a manual kick start
do you have some sort of virus protection running (besides what comes with windows)
I just wiped and reloaded everything only a couple months ago because it was compromised and that was the only way to assure that it was fully taken care of. Been very careful about what I have loaded back on it. But you never know.
Yeah I'm aware that OS7 is Microsofts latest dying breed. Question is, why do I regularly have to spend hundreds of dollars to upgrade to the latest and greatest when in reality I don't need all the latest bells and whistles? Look at the progression... Win 95 was supposed to fix all the bugs from Win 93. XP was to fix the bugs from win 95. Vista was supposed to fix the bugs from XP. 7 was supposed to fix the bugs from Vista. Am I really to expect that upgrading to 8 or 10 is really going to fix the bugs from 7? History (and those who have upgraded) proves this is a goose chase, and the only thing it really fixes is the chance to have a little extra cash in my pocket. Hey Mr Microsoft - how about a simple, basic OS that does the simple basics, that will be good for all time? If you're a Hollywood movie editor then you need the latest and greatest. All I need to do is keep a checkbook and type a few letters every now and then. Why does that cost me so much so often? How bout making a product actually work BEFORE you move on to the latest/greatest buggy os?
I defrag all the time, and run Mcafee total protection.
